Disappointed 8/23/2002

This is the furthest thing from real BBQ that I have ever had. If SF considers this the best BBQ then the city is definitely lacking in the BBQ cuisine arena! The brisket tastes like stewed meat---it's not about meat with lots of sauce---it's about the flavor of the meat! more

Best Bar-B-Que 8/19/2002

Brother-in-Law's is definitely the best Bar-B-Que in San Francisco. The neighborhood around it has changed somewhat in recent years, but their food has stayed the same....absolutely delicious. more

They know BBQ! Get the mix of hot & mild!! Love the Brisket and the Short Ribs! Open late, easy and convient! Order there...and take it home and get all messy and chow down! more

Excellent Ribs and Sauce!!! 7/6/2002

Listen everyone, I am from Singapore, one of the most hygenic, cleanest and sterile places in the world!! And If I can overlook the ambience for the excellent ribs. I am sure all of you can!!! The ribs are sooo good. The gravy/sauce that they pour over your ribs, are just heavenly and make the ribs just so very succulent. Just order take out and enjoy the ribs at home. You will not regret it!!! And who cares about service when you are taking out anyways!!! Its the food that matters...especially in this case!! more

The Employees Suck... 6/27/2002

The employees were extremely rude. I felt like I was coming at an inconvenient time. The food isn't much better!!! I wont be coming back. I guess I have been spoiled by all the great bbq shacks back east... Pros: Price Cons: Rude Service, Filthy Tables, So-so food more

The service: ""What do you want? (frowning) We don't have that no more (not looking you in the eye, these are direct quotes) What else you want? (it seems like she's about to collapse from the effort of taking your order) What sides you want?(you feel so drained by this encounter you can't wait to go home and eat your ribs, it smells incredible) The food: (You're home and you take your first bite)Tough, dry and has no redeeming characteristics. If Brother-in-Law's truly wants a broad customer base they should learn to be nicer to people who don't look or act quite like them. But the beef brisket--oh my! It's clear none of the incredibly unfriendly staff takes any pride in this place. Chairs are broken. Tables are filthy. And the food is deeply mediocre. Yeah, bbq joints aren't known for refined ambience, but this place is a disgrace. Cons: Staff, Food, Cleanliness more
