Daniel Boulud's downtown eatery tries to bring together the world of fine dining and the world of downtown funk--and it succeeds. DBGB is Boulud's most casual restaurant, with a big bar area in the front and a menu centering on sausages, burgers and a raw bar, with a few bistro classics thrown in for good measure. The place is constantly packed, but the high ceilings keep the din from becoming overwhelming, and the service is flawless on every front. The decor is a little disconcerting, with quotes about food and restaurants written on mirrors all over the place, but given how much better it is than any of the nearby competition, that's unlikely to deter the crowds.
