The Northwest Experience - Cutter's Bayhouse 11/30/2006

Cutter's Bayhouse in Seattle, Washington, is a great place to dine on the water and enjoy fresh seafood. Their web site is located here for more information: http://www.cuttersbayhouse.com/ . If you're not in the mood for seafood try their Rosemary Chicken -- it's yummy. The restaurant isn't outrageously expensive -- it is moderately priced for the atmosphere and food. It's a favorite place with students for prom and other special occasions. You will want to get reservations if you're headed there for dinner because it can get crowded. Since the restaurant is downtown parking can be a problem as there isn't much that's available right by the restaurant (you can try a garage). more

Disappointing Seattle 'landmark' 9/23/2006

As long as I've lived in Seattle, I had managed to avoid eating at Cutter's Bayhouse until a few weeks ago. I wish I'd gone even longer. A bunch of my coworkers recommended it for a business dinner with out of town guests. It was great from a location standpoint - we literally walked through Pike's Place Market to get there. What could be more 'Seattle' than that, right? Unfortunately it went downhill from there. The food is really mediocre - nothing terrible but nothing special or outstanding either. I had white king salmon which was well overcooked and dry as a bone. If you want to give visitors a taste of Seattle, I'd recommend Salty's on Alki or Ray's Boathouse before Cutter's. more

Nice View, Okay food, and Good Service 5/30/2006

I was at Cutter's having lunch with my fiance yesterday. This was my second time there, but I've noticed that the food quality has decreased from the last time I was there. I had the soup and sandwich combo. I started with the clam chowder, which was a bit watery and salty. I've definitely had better chowder than that! The following dish was the fresh dungeness crab--while I love the fresh crab, I wished they wouldn't put so much mayonnaise on it! I was disgusted with the oozing mayo that I didn't finish the sandwich! I normally finish my food, but I was done after a few bites. My fiance had the Tilapia served with onion vinaigrette, which looked good but the taste was just ok. It was a bit oily for me. The upside? Well, our waitress was really good, she joked with us and was always checking on us to make sure that we had enough water and bread! That's great service! As for the view?? Well, you can't complain since we had a window seat, which overlook the water! All in all, it was just an ok lunch with great service and a nice view. more

Great location Great food 8/16/2005

Cutter' s Bayhouse has been a popular Seattle restaurant for longer than I can remember. It has changed, however, to keep up with current dining trends. Located with a spectacular view of Elliot Bay and just north of Pike Place Market, Cutter's is great for all occasions. What's great is you can pop in for a great Happy Hour in the bar, have dinner in the bar anytime, have appetizers in the restaurant anytime, enjoy great Northwest fish dishes and more, or enjoy freshly made sushi from a personable sushi chef. It's all available, depending on your mood, with a friendly and professional staff. Ask for Mike at the bar. He's very personable and pours a great drink. Don't miss the chocolate volcano cake! It's the perfect chocolate-lovers treat! more

It should and could be better than it is. 7/14/2005

I have gone to Cutters several times for the mere convenience of it. Its literally right next to the Pike Place Market you see. I usually end up there with family from out of town. It is nice because of the spledid views. Hard to get a bad view as it overlooks the bay. As for the decor and such. It needs a little makeover. Its worn thin. As for the usual crowd, you will find many a tourist at this place (for the same reasons Id choose to go im sure). As for the food, its "fine". Nothing fancy. Just kind of getting by. You arent going to have an "amazing" experience here by way of food. May I suggest you have a drink or two from their full bar to get through that family visit. more

i'll just get the pasta, they can't screw *that* up, right 4/13/2005

...famous last words. went to cutters expecting something decent. sure it's in a touristy area but it's near etta's, on the waterfront, etc. well, let's start with... the good: the view was nice. and, um, the waitstaff was fine. and now the bad: the food. appetizer was seafood dumplings that were fried to a crisp and hard. grease city, baby. then came the entree - pasta. no idea how they got it to that consistency but the penne was hard, and not al dente. it was also dripping in butter and oil and just tasteless. there have been maybe 2 times in my life where the food was so bad that i had to send it back AND couldn't even stomach ordering something else from the men, and this was one of those times. and the ugly: to top it all off, it was expensive! fortunately they didn't charge me for the pasta since it was inedible but i remember seeing the bill for my friend and all i could do was laugh. more
