Word is that this is one of Russell Simmons' favorite Indian joints, and I'm scratching my head why. Even with their comprehensive list of vegetarian offerings, I feel that there are so many other places within a two block radius that could do better. Sure, it's cheap and plentiful, but it's also greasy and lacking in flavor. This is a watered-down, "safe" alternative for how Indian food should taste. Pass on the biriyani, where the rice is bland, and the korma, which is like drinking a pint of cream. The hotter dishes like vindaloo are missing that distinction of spices, so all of them taste like the cooks just dumped a bottle of hot sauce in your dish. Even as that "safe" alternative, it is not a good start by which to judge Indian cuisine. Pass. more

If you are looking for a cheap and someone not spicy Indian restaurant, this is the place to be. While the concept for the restaurant is great, the food is just so so and the deserts cheaply made. The upstairs is a nice seating area and the downstairs a someone fast food/takeout area. I recommend eating there so that you can pick the items you want. Just so so. more

This no frills, no pretension Indian joint is perfect for when you're looking for a quick, cheap, good bite to eat in "Curry Hill". Great for take out/delivery, and entrees come with your choice of rice or naan. more
