One of my favorite places to eat in 4/25/2012

One of my favorite places to eat in Denver. Try the paella or pork sandwich. The pork they use is tender and tastes slightly gamy like the fresh pork my sister used to serve me on the ranch which I love, nothing like store-bought meat. Get there EARLY! or it's standing room only and you will have to wait a while. Lots of positive energy here and something else you won't find very often at any Denver eateries: great food and ambiance! I just wish I lived closer, but that's probably a good thing though, because I would just bankrupt myself eating here all the time. more

Need to freshen the menu 5/15/2011

Boring but with potential. Maybe when summer hits they will do something special with the menu. Sure the Mojitos are grand, but they need to make the menu a bit more interesting. more

Great Atmosphere & Tasty Menu 3/27/2010

I have been to Cuba Cuba twice and loved it both times. First of all the decor and atmosphere is everything I love about going out to eat - intimate, unique and comfortable. Pros: Food, atmosphere Cons: Prices, portion size, can be a long wait more

Mediocre at Best 3/10/2010

I am from Tampa FL, known for authentic cuban food and ""Cuba Cuba"" does not come close. Not to say their food is bad, its just not great, especially for the price. Their black beans are not spanish at all and lack any real flavor. Their roasted pork was ok but overly citrusy...if you plan on eating here be prepared to drop around 15-20 per person on food alone. Since I got takeout, I want to go back and try their drinks and dessert to get a better overall perception of the place. As of now, I would not go to get food since it was not worth the price. Pros: None yet Cons: Price, taste more

Oh sweet Jesus! 8/31/2009

ok so i dont quite know how to tell you all this.. But the food here is simply Orgazmic!!! I wish there was a more appropriate way of saying it, but there you go. Everything Ive tried at this place from the appetizers down to the coffee was absolutely phenomenal! I dont know why its taken me so long to find this place! Pros: EVERYTHING Cons: Where have you been all my life.. Advertise damn it! more

We Love Cuba Cuba 1/20/2009

We have dined at this restaurant about 6 times and are consistently pleased. We went last weekend for my birthday dinner and noticed that the menu had been changed since the last time we visited. We loved the new plantain platter appetizer so much that we actually ordered two of them. My husband ordered a seafood special which was fantastic and I ordered the pulled pork sandwich- also amazing. We love the food and the atmosphere, but don't expect a romantic dining experience; it gets extremely loud in the main dining room for dinner. The pros are the food, mojitos, polite service and entertaining atmosphere. The cons, which I admit there are some cons, are the fact that you can't make reservations and have to wait in a loud bar area for up to an hour at times, the restaurant is smaller than it should be for such great food and it can get pricey really quickly, also there is limited street parking. Pros: Great food, mojitos, service Cons: Small restaurant, long wait, no reservations, limited parking more

Ripped off for New Years Eve, pass on this Cuban restaurant. 1/1/2009

So dissapointed in this restaurant that I have previously dined in. Made reservations for NYE dinner and the person on the phone never relayed the suprising events that were to unfold later. Reservations were for 9 pm, we had to wait and buy drinks in the bar until 9:20 pm (the worst $7.50 mojitos in town, if they are going to charge $7.50 for a mojito using a premium rum may be a good idea). When seated we were informed that dinner would consist of a braised pork salad with yucca, soup, more mashed yucca with an 8 oz (or so) beef filet (cooked medium rare only) and creme brulee. Good thing there were no vegetatians in my party. We had no menu options. Dinner also included a free mojito. Then comes the bill, $187.50 for two people, the food was not even close to being worth the price. I have no problem paying for good food. But almost $90 a person for this type of meal was absurd. I felt like I was at a used car lot with hidden dealer handling charges. I spoke with one of the managers and told her what had transpired. She was shocked that at no point were we informed of the single menu selection and cost of the meal. What was even more dissapointing was that she offerred nothing to remedy the situation. You would think she would offer to buy a couple of drinks the next time I was in, which her cost would've been a few bucks. She offerred nothing. I was very friendly and polite as was she but offerring nothing in the future to make up for this bad experience is bad business. I do not recommend this restaraunt and will be on the search for an alternate Cuban restaraunt. more

Excellent Food and Service 4/14/2008

I can't say how wonderful and delighted it is to return to this little piece of Cuba. After five years I still walk away impressed. Food is exquisite, atmosphere is warm and worth every penny. Tie it all together with wonderful and welcoming service and this keeps me returning year after year. I recently celebrated an anniversary the other day and we are happy we chose to dine here. Pros: Excellent service and food is delicious!! more

Awesome experience without the attitude 3/31/2008

My boyfriend and I went to Cuba Cuba on Saturday night, without a reservation. With both of use being in the industry- he a pastry chef and I a part-time server- we definitely go anywhere with high expectations. The hostess estimated a 30 minute wait for us so we decided to have a drink at the bar, quaint enough to feel like you really were in someone's home - true to the design of the restaurant. The pineapple mojito was awesome as was the service by the male bartender. We were then sat within fifteen minutes. I had Enrique's bistec (the NY strip with yuca fries) and my boyfriend had the Ropa Vieja (braised flank steak with rice and beans). The authenticity of this restaurant is not to be missed. A Denver gem in a sea of trendy places that often don't deliver. Try the flan dessert with caramel. I can't wait for the patio to open so we can go back soon! Pros: Ambience, cuisine, cocktails more

Mojito Happy Hour 2/18/2008

Cuba Cuba is a small little place that could be overlooked from the street but once inside you see that there is nothing to be overlooked at Cuba Cuba. The owner has definitely taken her culture and made a niche for herself. They offer Mojito Happy Hour Monday-Friday this alone is worth the stop. The Mojitos are wonderful and I would recommend the pineapple Mojito and the blackberry Mojitio which is not only tasty but full of those antioxidants. Plantain chips and mojo sauce definitely bring a different taste to your mouth but they are yummy. Also had the Lechon Asado pork shoulder this meat was tender had a simple taste which melted in your mouth it was not overpowered by spices so the simple taste buds could definitely enjoy this meal. Cuba Cuba is about the culture, the food, and the drinks. Pros: Happy Hour, the food, and the service Cons: A bit expensive more

A Cuban Sandwich to Die for!! 2/6/2008

I have yet to have a bad meal at Cuba Cuba. The food is outstanding and the selection of beverages is awesome! Their Red and White Sangria's are amazing! Pros: Great bar and food Cons: A bit on the pricey side, but really worth it! more

Wow.... totally overrated. 2/1/2008

Overpriced, mediocre food and just okay service. I would definitely say that there are plenty of othe places I would rather drop $20+ a plate at. Cuba Cuba manged to disappoint me on almost every level, from not recording my reservation to overcharging me on some mashed potatoes and dry fish. The bar staff was nice and remade a terrible drink for me and the carmel flan was yummy... but the rest was just way not worth it. Pros: Desert, coffee Cons: Overpriced! more

not ""cuba cuba"" anything, truly disappointing! 12/22/2007

CUBA CUBA is highly over-rated, and a disappointment to the ""real"" Cuban families. Pros: nice ""rumba"" band, bar atmosphere Cons: long wait, poor & slow service, food served cold more

Worst Service I have ever received 11/2/2007

To make the long story short, six of us waited 2 and a half hours for a table that was supposed to take an hour and a half. After admitting her mistake of forgetting to seat us, and an additional hour elapsing, the hostess finally brought the manager out. The manager was rude to our entire party and offered no solution to the situation. You could not pay a single one of us to eat or drink in this restauarant. I woud not even give it a star if that option was available. Pros: Nothing Cons: The worst servise I have ever received throughout the US and the world. more

Decent Cuban with Great Service. 9/18/2007

I almost never say this, but at Cuba Cuba I had great service! The waitress was friendly, enthusiastic, helpful and generous. This too was after being served immediately after sitting down in the bar. The food was good but not as creative as expected from the menu. The food and the preparation were of good quality. However the dishes weren't as flavorful as expected. The snapper cerviche was massive, but too citrusy. The wine selection was limited. Dining on the patio was particularly pleasant. Wasn't all that hip, as noted in the editorial review (not that that's a bad thing). Pros: Good service Cons: Could use a little more oomph in the entreees. more

que rico!so good 8/31/2007

cuba cuba was great. we came expecting a good meal and good atmosphere based on friends' recommendations and it was better than that. The food was right on, and I am cuban, the staff was so nice and you can't help to love the cocktails. I love the brother sister team... Pros: atmosphere, food, staff more

Never come back, sorry I went 7/25/2007

I had high hopes about Cuba Cuba but unfortunately I was extremely disappointed. I went with 2 friends and when we arrived we waited for a table in the bar area. It was so loud we had to shout to hear each other and there were only 3 other people in the whole bar! It was like being in a club not an intimate restaurant where you could enjoy conversation. We loved the mango mojitos and hoped that it would be much quieter in the dining area but it was not to be. Pros: Mojitos, nice waitress Cons: Food, sound level-unless you enjoy dining while yelling at your diner guests more

Good and Bad.... 7/25/2007

I wanted to LOVE Cuba Cuba -- but it was more like Lust.... The place / decor / vibe is fabulous - super cute - like a little vacation and the mojitos are amazing. The patio is top-notch. The bar area is super crowded & it made me a little agro and claustrophobic -- but a drink quickly remedied that. I got the PLANTAIN CRUSTED TUNA - I was very saddened by the blandness of the dish - very boring and not satisfying. My friends had the PAELLA CUBA CUBA - and it was better on flavor - but we all agreed it was also very ""Asi-Asi"" -- SO SO and not worth the price. The atmosphere was still really fun - we had good service, especially from the bus-boy / food runners - which is always very much appreciated; plates didn't linger too long, water was always filled (a bonus when you are having pitchers of mojitos!) I'd go back for a sandwich and the fun atmosphere -- it's sort of a 'Scene' - so if you are into that you'll love it. Pros: Isn't the food supposed to be the best part? Cons: The food wasn't the best part! more

Good food but way overpriced as entrees come with small portions 7/21/2007

Pros: Good food and seasoning Cons: overpriced, small portions more
