Towels Not Sanitary 10/10/2008

I have always felt that handing out towels at the front desk was not sanitary. Most recently I brought in a guest that made see that I am exposing myself to viruses/infections. Being a member of Crunch Fitness it never registered to me that its not sanitary for the towels to be at the front. I observed one day staff at the front desk get the buckets of towels to fold. They are collecting money, swiping cards, drinking, beverages, they rub their noses, and the topper is that they fold them on the counter that is already dirty. No one washes their hands to fold. They hand out the towels and we use them on our face and body. People need to know this is not sanitary or healthy. Cons: Towels are not sanitary - I am grossed out more

Craptastic Customer Service 9/5/2008

I tried to do some consumer research to find out prices and what gyms had on the phone because I am busy. Thus want to find the right gym. Pros: Who knows Cons: Won't give a price over the phone, Only if they can guide you around more

ehhh not so hot 8/23/2006

i had very high expectations of crunch and was very disappointed. It's super expensive and i feel it has an eire that they're too good for most of their clients, or rather perspective clients that end up opting out of buying their lengthy memberships. Their customer service was sub par at best. Not someplace I was to spend hundreds or thousands at to feel uncomfortable and unwelcomed. Pros: fancy image Cons: price, staff, attitude more

Bad Staff Attitude 3/9/2005

This would be a nice gym IF... 1. ... if the staff were either friendly or helpful. Instead, they cop an attitude and would not give a tour of facility, even though it was my first visit to that location. 2. ... if the televisions worked. Only half had stations listed to tune your radio to - but, nothing came through anyway. No one in the whole facility had any knowledge of how their TV system works. 3. ... if the cleaning staff didn't spray chemicals while you were changing. 4. ... if they would turn down their loud music so those of us with headphones could listen to ANYTHING else. 5. ... IF their sound system did not interfere with normal radio reception. I could neither listen to my radio program, NOR tune into their TV. All their signal did was send interference. It was a nightmare gym experience. more

Very good but... 11/27/2004

The pricing is confusing and requires a contract for the best rate. But the facility is well-maintained, the classes are of a high quality and free and it is seldom crowded, even at peak hours. more

Crunch Fitness! No Judgments! 4/6/2004

As a new member of Crunch Fitness on Van Ness I am very impressed with the idea that anyone can workout there and not worry about who is who. Everyone seems to have a wonderful attitude about staying healthy and having fun. Pros: Energetic!, Not crowded, Member/Staff relation more

CRUNCH ROCKS! 11/25/2002

I've been a member of Crunch for nearly 2 months now and I find myself going everyday, which is really good considering the fact that I have to drive over 15 miles from work to the gym. The gym has a great atmosphere, friendly people, the best classes, clean showers and it's NEVER overcrowded. My officemate just signed up for 24 hour fitness and was telling me all these horror stories about having a hoard of people rush in for the kickboxing class. That never happens in Crunch. It's such a great gym, I would recommend it to anyone. The only catch is that you have to pay for parking (which you can validate). Oh, and this review only stands for the Crunch Gym on Van Ness. The new one in New Montgomery is another story... Pros: great instructors, cool classes Cons: pay for parking, a bit costly more

I never thought I would love a gym 11/18/2002

I have never been a member of a gym before, but Crunch is great. I love that * the classes are free * there's a great variety of classes where people of different levels work together * there are no aerobics classes * there aren't a lot of huge, burly men grunting at the weight machines * no judgments * they have rock wall sessions * equipment use (lockers, towels, boxing gloves, rock-climbing shoes) is free * the gym just has a good vibe! Pros: cool classes, normal people Cons: expensive more
