Lots of room to run and play at this park 12/16/2005

This park has a nice playground, picnic tables, a pond, and ducks! The kids love to feed the ducks and there is lots of room to run and play. They offer programs thoughout the year such as an egg hunt and pumpkin race that are sponsored by the parks and rec. department. The police horses are kept here too so usually the kids can see them and there are also other farm animals. We enjoy any free family entertainment. more

Crump Park 11/8/2005

Crump Park is a lovely little place off of mountain road. It is great for large picnics. They have several pavilions and a nice playground. They have a lake too. In the rear of the park there are animals and reproduction houses. They hold great historic reenactments and other events throughout the year. more

Nice Large Park 11/7/2005

Deep Run Park is a nice large park in the West End. Located off of Ridgefield Parkway. They have great pavilions for picnics or parties and several great playgrounds. They have a sports field at the back. Also a big lake with fish. They have great events occasionally. It is a great place for children to play. more

Nice playground and animals to see 9/29/2005

Crump Park has a playground with an area for older children and an area for younger children. The playground has modern equipment. There is a large shelter with picnic tables between the two playgrounds. They have a farm with animals for the kids to go look at. They have horses, pigs, cows, and turkeys to name a few. It is a spacious park and you can tour the historic home on the grounds as well. more

Lots to do at this park 9/29/2005

Deep Run Park offers several trails to walk or ride bikes on. Feeding the ducks and geese at the pond is always fun. Feed them from the elevated deck if you do not want them to come up and take the food out of your hand. There are playgrounds for toddlers and preschoolers near the front. Go all the way to the back of the park to find the playground that is suited for preschoolers and older children. more

Wonderful park in a Historic setting 8/5/2005

I absolutely love Crump park and the adjacent Meadow Farm -- there are two playgrounds which are pretty much side by side -- there's so many innovative and creative playthings for the kids and it's all so colorful and fun -- The only problem with this park is a lack of swings, there are only 4 and I have 3 kids! It's hard to wait that long for swings! Luckily my little girls are generally pretty happy on everything else anyway so it's no great loss. more

Large park 8/5/2005

This park is a nice size and has 3 different play areas. The large one is in the back has some unique play equipment and is nicely shaded, however , it can get crowded. There are 2 smaller play areas closer to the lake. The long walking trails through the woods are nice, but the big hills can be difficult with a stroller. The soccer fields also give you room to run and play with the kids. We have rented a picnic shelter there before and enjoy watching and feeding the ducks on the lake. more

Great park for all ages 8/4/2005

Deep Run has won awards for being one of the best parks in the area -- there are two play grounds, one by the ponds is smaller and great for young children the other by the soccer fields is HUGE and great for big kids or little ones who listen well! There are trails to walk, movie nights, concerts, geese and ducks all over the pond area and you can fish too! It's just a really great park and we go there often just for the fun of it! more

Even mom loves playing here! 8/2/2005

So far this is my favorite park in the West End area. They playground isn't only set up to be fun and allow the children to be active, it is set up to help them learn while playing! The structures are amazing with trains and trucks to climb aboard, "spider-web" ropes to climb, a winding fire pole to swing down, and so many small details in every corner. I even love to play on the spinning seats! The whole area is also covered in shade. It is very obvious a lot of thought by a lot of brilliant engineers and children's specialists went into creating this incredible place. This park also has separates areas for big kids and little kids, though they are situated directly beside each other. Moms can hang out in the middle and watch everyone play. There is a very large, open grassy area perfect for flying kites or a game of touch football, or just enjoying a picnic. On the other side is a lake to walk around and enjoy. The park was once a 19th century farm and is now a museum. more

Great family park 8/2/2005

Our favorite part about this park is feeding the geese. They are very friendly and will take food out of your hand. There are squirrels who are even braver, and will steal snacks from strollers. There are two areas to this park, one with a playground specifically for smaller kids, and another for larger kids. They have numerous picnic shelters available, ponds, beautiful areas to stroll around, and wonderful landscaping. Once a week they offer a free family concert. They also allow fishing. The only negative is the open lakes. I have an almost two year old and a nine month old, so it's not unusual that the toddler will get twenty feet away before I can catch him, which is about the distance from the playground to the lake. Having a child with no sense of fear, it can become a real hazard in a matter of a few seconds. more
