I took my car into Covington tire because when I started my car one morning a red warning light went on dashand stayed on for several minutes . They told me I needed a new battery ($130.00)even though I was not having any trouble starting my car. The next morning same light. I was told by a very rude service manager that I would have to leave my care over night for them to determine what was wrong. I live alone, and need my car to get to and from work so not possible. After a week of this with the light staying on longer and longer I tokk it back expressed my unhappiness and was told I needed an alternator. Why the battery I asked...." Well we do not want to charge 400 for an alternator right off the bat". So let me see charge me 130 for a battery and THEN 400 for an alternator
I went to another mechanic who said that my alternator was fine and the red light I was seeing was from a sensor in my radiator "reservoir" he put some fluid in , cleaned off the sensor and guess what no red light anymore!
I feel that the service manager at Covington tire ignored concerns and did nothing to diagnosis my car's problem. dare I say it was because I am a woman and know little about cars??
