To be fair, I haven't been to Counter since it first opened a few years ago. At that time I was not impressed with the food--which was tasty, but for the meal, over-priced.
I have a feeling that since that time the then green owners of Counter have worked out some the early kinks and are probably doing much better.
Cuisine is American diner meets upscale bistro and the chef attempts to put creative spins on old favorites like lentil loaf and mashed potatoes, making them with various fancy, organic, semi-exotic ingredients suitable for urban palates.
One fo the biggest draws is Counter's extensive wine bar, with several standout locally produced vintages and a solid list of organics.
