i went online searching for a credit counselor, trying to filter through the businesses that offer the service and those that are genuine. this place is a certified credit counseling service but for me it was a complete waste of time. I needed credit score counseling (I cannot get a credit card, no credit history), talked to someone on the phone and set up an appointment for a one hour ($65) consultation They mailed me out forms I had to fill out (my expenses/income, things like that). I showed up ten minutes before my appointment, got brought in ten minutes after my appt was scheduled, and was given no information. The woman gave me an attitude and kept rolling her eyes at my questions. She ran my credit report, and when I asked her ways to improve my credit she suggested I take out a student loan. I do not attend school, nor do I have intentions on doing so. She offered me to join a credit bureau and then informed me I had to have a family member in one to do so. She told me that those were my only options. I knew that I could establish credit by making large purchases (refrigerators/dryers) at department stores, and when I asked again if those were my only options. She said yes. I brought up the department store idea and then she changed her whole story around to include that idea as if it was her own. She suggested getting a secured credit card to me, gave me handouts that didnt apply to my situation, and then tried to usher me out of her office 15 minutes before my 1hr appointment was scheduled to end. I had only been in her office for 35 minutes. I asked her to look up a local bank I could apply for a secured card at before the banks closed for the day, and she told me I had to get out because she had other appointments. I called the next day and complained. The manager said he would issue me my money in full that week, and one didnt get issued for nearly a month. No one that works here is competent in the least. CCCS was a COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME.
