I recently moved into Syracuse from Michigan and Concept was recommended to me by a neighbor...now I cannot thank that neighbor enough! Upon entering the salon I noticed the cleanliness of the salon was second to none, and then I was greeted right away by the most friendliest of staff personnel. I was offered tea (which was great!) and only had to wait an appropriate amount of time for my stylist. ( I was a few minutes early) Billy took the time to consult me as a first time customer and really listened to what I wanted in my hair service. I was extremely happy with the results and next time I am going to take advantage of the massage services that they offer! I cannot understand how anyone had a bad expierence at this outstanding salon. I will be a life long client! Pros: Amazing place Cons: Had none! more

I went to Concept recommended by my former hair stylist in Rochester. I was very happy with the results and the service! The salon is inside the Gallery mall and there's a garage attached to the mall, so it was easy to park! Like everyone else says, Billy spent a good amount of time listening to my hair concerns, what i wanted to get done, while massaging my scalp and giving me an extra neck and shoulder massage (Great!!) I was very pleased with the haircut!!!! It's a couple weeks now since i've been there and i still love it. He made it exactly how i envisioned it. Everyone at the salon specially Billy were very nice to me. I'm planning on asking him to do my hair for my wedding. that's how much i love my experience there. I recommend it to all! Pros: parking garage attached to the mall, easy to find, clean, aveda products, complimentary tea, massage, personalized service Cons: the mall is a bit empty but Concept is in the ground floor of the mall, so it's very easy to access from outside or from the garage. more

One of my favorite places to go to is the Concept. It is a beautiful upscale establishment with geniune and caring staff. Billy spends at least 10 minutes before cutting my hair talking with me to see if I like the style or would I like a change. Two years ago I started bringing my two teenager daughters. Billy has developed such a wonderful friendship with both girls. He talks with them and cuts and styles their hair according to their interests and suggestions. I walked into the concept with BOTH my pre-teen daughters and was welcomed by all staff. It was our first visit and each of my daughters was treated with respect. Each was asked what she wanted for her ""new look"" and the expert treatment they received was appreciated. The owner, Billy, greeted all of us warmly as well as our stylist, Al. We left in anticipation of our next visit to the quaint downtown salon. You don't often receive such treatment from salons who herd customers in and out. Pros: Staff, Aveda, atmosphere Cons: Nothing more

I have been going to the Concept for at least 7 years. A friend recommended it to me for the waxing services...Karin Jean has been doing my brows forever and I have brought several friends there as well. who have alse brought several friends. As far as I'm concerned she's the best in town. A couple years ago Rachel who does my hair left another salon and came to the Concept...I was thrilled to have one stop shopping for all my needs. I have never had anything but GREAT, FRIENDLY SERVICE from everyone there. That includes the people who greet me and make my appointments to Billy, the owner. I always get greeted by name! I have even brought my 8 year old there for her haircuts and she has been welcomed as well. Pros: The staff, convenient location, Aveda! Cons: Absolutely none. more

Allthough I was treated like I should have been. The owner apparently has a reputation around town for being a bit ""unfriendly"". What an understatement! If I had known what this guy was about, I'd have never considered this place. Being new to town, I knew no better. Even though he wasn't actually working on a client when I walked in (what a surprise) I still had about a 20 minute wait in the akward lobby while the nail tech glared at me. When Billy finally sat me down, he didn't really care enough to discuss what it was that I wanted. What I wanted was a fresh perspective, what I got was a root touch up and a trim. How do you style hair for a living without a creative bone in your body?! And how does a salon like this even stay in business when nobody working there even wants YOU to be there?! Maybe it was just me, but when I share my experience (and even when I don't) everyone brings up what a terrible place that salon is! Pros: Aveda products Cons: Everything else more

Be careful ladies this owner (Billy} may not deem you worthy to enter his upscale?! establishment especially if we appear to be proud of our lovely children and CERTAINLY not if we should ever be so bold as to actually walk one of our teens (or pre-teens OR forbid-BABIES!!] into this salon. I have been met with icy stares and rude interaction from the receptionists even though I dress quite well and certainly purchase alot of Aveda-apparently this is Beverly Hills and not downtown Syracuse!! I say this is one place any intelligent woman will certainly want to avoid!!!! TO BEAUTY WITHOUT HIPOCRACY!!!!!!!!!! more
