Great, prompt service. Extracted data from my bad drive and fixed my laptop super fast. I highly recommend them over any computer service store. Tech was highly knowledgeable and friendly. Hopefully I don't have anymore issues but if I'd, I'll go to computer drive more

would recommend - great Service 2/26/2010

I dropped my Apple macbook , that made a little dent and it won't boot. Took laptop to Apple store, they told me that first they will repair this dent and replace my hard drive but I'll loose my data. I couldn't afford to loose my data, stupid of my I had no backup. They referred me to computer drive. They recovered my data and fixed my computer at much lesser cost that what I was expecting. They gave me estimate within couple of hours and took care of my system with my data recovered. They didn't took advantage of my situation. Computer is as good as new and I've told my friends and now you to go to them for your computer repairs. My wife has a Sony laptop which is running slow. I'll go get it checked by them. I'm glad I found this place :) Pros: quick turn around - low cost more

Keep chargng without any reason 1/5/2010

I don't recommend this store at all. I went there to fix my laptop adapter socket and i paid 75 dollars at front. Then i called ,they said that they need to order new parts to replace it and re charge me again for another 75 dollars without doing anything for the first payment i made. Cons: Over charge more

Good on the Whole 4/8/2009

This is a follow-up comment to the earlier one I published (under Captino). CD delivered the computer finally, but it had another problem that was new to me and to them -- a drive that was failing. They took the time to test the drive and cloned a new one from the existing drive, saving us hours and hours of re-installation, tweaking, etc. When we got the machine back it was running perfectly, and well worth the cost for the new board, new drive, repair, etc. Upset at first, I ended up being pleased. Pros: Fast Diagnosis, knowledgeable team Cons: Not always as prompt as they could be more

Avoid This Place 3/31/2009

Brought Toshiba laptop for repair - which they quickly diagnosed as having a faulty motherboard. Then the waiting began - day to day to day, the part was always ""in shipment"" but they could not trace it or tell us when it would arrive. So, we called back and said we were picking up the machine and would have it fixed elsewhere. Suddenly, the part was arriving the next day! Very suspicious. Now we wonder whether the motherboard was even bad. As of this writing we are awaiting reassembly and pickup. I will write a follow-up once we get the machine back. Pros: Sound competent on phone Cons: delay, delay, delay more

Computer Drive Sadly Lost It's Drive! 12/29/2008

CAUTION with Computer Drive. My first two experiences with CD, over the last 2+ years, were outstanding. One tech in particular, Naveed (sp?), not only provided superior customer service, but addressed all of my concerns,\r dropped my computer off, and patiently/courteously answered questions about the work that had been done. With this kind of service I returned twice more for work and heartily recommended them to friends and colleagues. \r \r Mid December, 2008, my Windows XP was horribly corrupt & needed a reinstall. Naveed said he'd be back to me ASAP. Mycall back was from an ""Ameen"" I'd never spoken with before. \r \r Ameen explained some differences in policy between their Skokie, Il. location and North shore customers (I'm in Highland Park,IL.). I said I was curious why. \r Hesitatingly Ameen explained North shore customers tend to try to and ""rip them off"". I remarked that demanding I could understand. \r Ameen was very apologetic and explained he did not mean to offend me, rather was simply being candid. \r \r Attitudes have become indifferent at Computer Drive. Customer service, which once was fantastic, have DEGRADED TO NON-EXISTANT I'm sad to say. \r \r Afterwards I found GAMES I never installed on my PC, and running Corporate Norton and Webroot spyware, a host of malware, trojans and virii were found. What was my puter used for??\r \r Perhaps there has been reorganization at Computer Drive. Techs come and go quickly. I can no longer recommend you call these people for your PC needs, worse I can recommend you PASS ON COMPUTER DRIVE to avoid the grief any business seemingly floundering without a head can provide a customer with. \r Ron Kolman - Highland Park, IL. Pros: Once were Excellent Cons: Bad service and attitude these days more

Poor Service. Don't go here 11/12/2007

I just needed to replace the latch for my laptop and it took me more than 2 weeks to repair!!!!!\r They did not call me for the confirmation on what will be done and they told me the job will take 2 days to fix. I was very mad since I couldn't do my work properly but they didn't seem to care and sorry on their late work. more

Friendly but Devious 2/20/2007

Unaware that my laptop was still under warranty, I paid $375 to have the LCD replaced. Several months later, when I took my laptop to another store to have the hard drive replaced, I learned that it was under warranty. I also found out that Toshiba-authorized repair centers need to run the computer's serial number through a system, to see if they're under warranty. Interesting, but I assumed that Computer Drive simply forgot to run my computer though this warranty-check system. Out of curiosity, I called Toshiba to see if any claims had been submitted against the warranty. As it turns out, one was, just four days before the $375 charge was posted to my credit card. I went to Computer Drive and asked them to rectify the situation. They said they couldn't understand how it happened, and vowed to look into it. After they failed to get back to me, I repeatedly contacted them without any response. more

Avoid this place. 1/31/2007

I went to fix my printer and they said the warranty was over, but then when I called HP it was still under warranty. So I had to ship the printer to the HP service centre in CA which could have been done here with no cost. Avoid them!\r more

Poor service, surly, gave me wrong a/c plug after I asked them to make sure it was mine 8/10/2006

I have to drive back 40 minutes to get my correct a/c plug. Too bad there is no Toshiba Authorizrd Service nearby Cons: too busy to be good more

I'd go to the Apple Store Instead next time 6/25/2006

After taking a computer in for repair that belonged to my client and was under warranty, (the PMU needed replacing and a system re-install stalled in the middle because of the faulty PMU) \r they said they would call when it was done. They didn't. WE called and wanted to know if there was a system on there so the computer would work when she got it back. They said we'd have to wait to talk to the tech person who came in later (after 2)...at 3 PM we called and found out the tech person was on a housecall because ""that's a paying customer."" My client went to pick up the computer (they never had the tech person call as I and my client separately requested) and although the hardware may have been fixed, the software was not because they were unsure about being reimbursed by Apple for the software repair. Also, they never said what they did to the machine...which was NOTHING! It still has the same problem it had before.\r I will go to the Apple Store in the future and forget this place. (The Indian people answering the phones had such thick accents, it was hard to understand them.) Cons: BAD customer service and communication. more
