All reviews seem positive

sweet/sour 9/5/2007

Before deciding to go to Comix Experience I read some reviews of it and a few other local comic retailers. I was wondering about one particular comment though on my way. That this place ad a surly staff. "If they have the titles I'm looking for what do I care?" I thought. Well they actually do have a good selection (as the review I read actually said as well) but I found the same problem with the staff. They are the type of guys you might see in movies like "clerks" and, while I do love "clerks" it's not exactly what I want to see when I go in to an actual store. I'm giving them a 3 but I feel bad bout it because they deserve a 4 (if they provide proper service WITHOUT the attitude). You take the good with the bad I guess... more

Great Indies 4/29/2006

For Indie comics and graphic novels, Comix Experience is legendary in San Francisco. For years, I lived blocks away from the store and was able to stop in each week to pick up my books, and more importantly, get the newsletter. The newsletter, actually a multi-page booklet, had reviews of upcoming comics and an order form which listed most of the popular comics on it. As a subscriber, I would fill out which comics I wanted, turn in the form and then the comics would be pulled every week. However, when I moved back from Europe this time, I didn't end up in the Lower Haight, instead moving near the ballpark. This in itself made going all the way out to Divisadero a pain in the backside, but adding in a new job that requires a good amount of travel made it almost impossible to ensure I would even make it into the store more than once a month, making it difficult to ensure I would get the newsletter each month to fill out the form in time. Because of this, I cancelled my account. If your schedule allows weekly visits, or you just need a quick indie fix, you could do much worse than Comix Experience. more

One of the top comics stores in San Francisco 8/19/2005

Comics Experience, also known as Comix Experience, is seriously one of the best, if not the best, comic book store in all of San Francisco. It would be hard to find a place that has as comprehensive and as diverse and intriguing a selection as Comix Experience does. Definitely recommended for any comic book nut. more

One of the few Comic book stores in SF 8/18/2005

There is really nothing wrong with Comix Experience. So why do I feel that way whenever I go in there? Maybe it's the rather surly staff, who look like they would rather spit in your eye than help you. Maybe it's the lay out with window displays, that makes it feel more like a boutique than a comic book shop. I can't fault them for anything, they carry all the current releases, plus they have a small selection of back issues. And heck, they had Matt Wagner, Trace Bellieu and Jim Mallon do signings there, so they can't be that bad, right? Maybe it's the extremely clean, uncluttered displays that just don't fit my narrow view of a comic book shop. Whatever, they are worth it to support the industry, in the very least. more

Cool Place 8/17/2005

I used to love to collect comics, so I've recently decided to revisit my old passion, and I found this place. It's great. They always have a good selection, and it's run by the reincarnation of Comic Book Guy and his buddies. Brian, the owner, also writes things... a lot of things... about comics and the industry. It's more than just a place to pick up the latest issues. Definitely a good place to check out if you a comic collector, and even if not! more
