Theft, drugs, deception, rats and more! 4/26/2012

First of all, we had to do a double move because the last we heard, our apartment wasn?t ready. We moved everything into storage and then found out that the apartment was ready that same day, but they forgot to call us and tell us. ? Fleas were bad and I didn?t have any pets. I called the front office a few times to have an exterminator out, to which they answered ?nobody?s lived in your apartment for a while, there can?t be fleas.? So I waited. Ants became a huge problem, as well as giant crickets and something that looks similar to a roach. When the exterminator finally did come, (about 1 mnth later) he said we didn?t have fleas. My brother put on a pair of white socks, dragged his feet across the carpet, took them off and showed the exterminator, and THEN he finally sprayed. ? Then the theft began. My neighbor had her car broken into on a Thursday night. They took everything there was to take. A few nights before this, there was a forensics truck with yellow caution tape at one of the residences, accompanied by VA Beach police. Scary!! ? I?ve seen numerous drug deals go on at College Square, so many in fact that I know what kind of cars are doing the dealing, and who?s buying. Cops are frequently parked in College Square because they know it?s going on there, too. Some ?gated community.? The gate is broken half the time anyway. ? The same people that are buying the drugs can be heard at 4 AM screaming obscenities at each other and keeping all of the other residents awake. ? Driving through at night, you feel you need to keep your windows up and locked and hurry inside. There are suspicious characters at all hours of the night just ?hanging around? the park and at the basketball court. ? Scared of spiders and/or silverfish? This place has loads! And they are impossible to get rid of. ? What about rats? I was informed by my neighbor prior to moving out that there was a hole that went in between her and my storage units, in which a giant rat traveled back and forth. She told them to notify us about it because it chewed through all of her camping stuff, but of course, they never did. ? The floors are so creaky that all through the night (and morning) I?d be woken up by footsteps and movement, and not because the neighbors were loud. It literally sounded like the person was in your room, not next door. ? There?s only 1 dumpster in the whole community and it?s at the very front of College Square. Parking is nearly impossible after 3 PM, the spaces are so narrow that if one person parks a little crooked, everyone else has to, taking up more than 1 parking space per car. Sometimes we?d have to park around the block. ? In the 6 months of living there, not once did they trim the weeds in the little ?yard? that we had. They grew to be pretty tall. ? They charge an extra $40/month for the mini washer/dryer. ? Timpossible to heat/cool ? Maint. req's made through front office never dealt with And last but not least, this is the greatest part! ? My husband is active duty military (Navy) and gone more often than not. We had received a noise complaint for our TV being too loud, so we tried to keep it down after that. The next letter we received was to notify us that we couldn?t renew the lease. When we went up to the front office to ask why, the head person in charge said it was because of all the noise complaints. We were astounded because we had only received one complaint. She assured us that they had sent three, both through the mail, and in our door. What is the probability that all of these notices could have somehow got lost in the mail and/or not ended up in our door? When asked to show us our file, or to print the notices that were sent, she said they had gone ?missing.? She started to act really sketchy and was shuffling around in the filing cabinets, and still couldn?t find them. So, the electronic files went missing ALONG with the paper files. Interesting. more
