COHIBA is a haven for shady thieves and racially biased management 11/4/2007

DJs are great. Bartenders are fine. But if your valuables are stolen, someone SEES who did it, and you report it to security and OWNERSHIP, look out. They wont care. Tonight, at Cohiba Nightclub, a small insignificant clutch containing the belongings of two ladies was snatched and emptied of two credit cards, an ID, and a cell phone. The responsible parties were identified by two men, not only to the victims, but also to the club security and ownership, to no avail. The gentlemen were fingered by witnesses upon re-entrance into the club after using the card next door at 7-Eleven, but security failed to do so LITTLE as just ask politely for a pocket check. One of the perps happened to be the "brother" of one of the laides at the door. FYI: she was hefty, husky, and hugely disinterested in the importance of her job. Not only this, but after report of the incident by witnesses, the "owner", a fuzzy Hells Angels type, promised to handle the situation. What did he do when the reported three showed up? Waved them out. Brother of an employee? No problem. ROB THE PATRONS THAT KEEP HIS BUSINESS OPEN. Nepotism is no issue. Cohiba could really offer a great time......if there werent a random shady few enabled by ownership and their overweight faux management to steal from you. Visit at your own risk. Pros: drinks, djs Cons: SECURITY, PATRONAGE, and "OWNERSHIP" more

Savior on the Start of a Bad Night 7/1/2007

We had a bad night down at V20 (the crowd was older than my parents) and so we walked down to Cohiba. It was fun. They had two DJs and go go dancers. Enjoyed the night after a rocky start. Pros: Music Cons: None more

Worse place we ever have been 6/2/2007

"Cahiba"- old, dirty casual night club and sigar/sigaret bar for black young crowd (there were 99% black crowd and age 21-35y.o. and play black music. For Enter charge $20. more

hot men, fun dance floors.. 5/16/2007

we have spend many a "girls nights out" here on saturday's.. and it's alway great fun. djs can have off nights.. but they are they get it most nights. if you like dance.. it's dance. the drinks, in my experience haven't two watered down. the cover charge cut off time changes all the time, on weekend it will be 10 pm, another it can be 830.. without any worning from there website. so, maybe a phone call to avoid the outragous cover charge. more

Comment to the "Worst Place Ever" review 3/14/2007

I often frequent this venue with clients from out of town, and have held and event there myself, which was wonderful! Since it was such a great event and I have always had a wonderful time there, I felt like I needed to say something to the person who wrote the "worse place ever". First of all yes it is an older venue, but that is what is so great about it! It has kept ithe downtown charm, so you don't feel like you are in yet another trendy, modern, trying to be Vegas nightclub. The fact that there are 3 different styles of rooms is enough in itself. I don't recall it ever being dirty or a time that my clients and friends have ever said they were unhappy with the place I took them. The staff is always above and beyond service, they always remember me, what I drink and make a point of making my guests feel like they already know them. Regarding to the "black" references, there are not just "African American "(which is the correct, tactful way thing to say) there is a huge vatriety of ethnicities there, again that is what is so nice. If you are uncomforrtable with being around "black people" than maybe you should go hide under a rock, or move to the mid west! African Americans along with Hispanics, Chinese and Caucasions take up alot of our population and we all have to be OK with that. Another thing, you spell "sigars and sigarettes" with a "C" not an s. You may want to spell check and confirm your details before you make such a derogatory statement. A comment like this would never change my mind about going back there again and again. Of course, just like yours this is just my honest opinion. Pros: 3 rooms, 3 bars, good looking and great staff! great music, beautiful party ambiance! Cons: parking, but there is a lot across the street which is cheap, and there is valet more

Good Times! get there early! 3/13/2007

Went there a month ago and we had a great time. Parking is really hard to find so get there early to avoid the cover charge which is $20.00 now and get there before 9:00pm. If you like to smoke and play pool this is your place. Nice dance floor and good looking people. The stage girls are pretty hot too. The drinks are average $8-12 per drink. Overall I would really recommend this place but make sure you get there around 8pm to get a table and avoid the cover charge, but if your a female you wont have to worry about anything. more

A Megaclub has found Long Beach 2/22/2005

This is by far one of the largest dance clubs in the city. Although it is smaller now that the outside patio has been annexed by the business next door, Cohiba has not lost it's punch as a great dance and loung area. There are two main dance areas. The larger one can hold upwards of 400 people. The smaller room is meant for around 50 people. If you're game for a nice cigar, you can go over to the billiard/smoke room. All in all, it's the place to be. more

  • The Scene
Overlooking hopping Pine Avenue, this 7,500-square-foot space caters to both hip-hop and jazz enthusiasts. The high ceilings, gleaming wood accents and gorgeous arched windows create a decadent dance-hall vibe. Though the setting is decidedly upscale and the dress code strict, there is little pretentiousness in either the clientele or employees. The exquisite outdoor bar features a romantic view of downtown Long Beach and heat lamps for cool nights.

    The Draw
This downtown LBC staple is the only place where one can enjoy a game of pool, a stiff martini, dancing and live music while lighting up a stogie inside. Each of the three rooms features its own vibe: The sprawling dance space accommodates up to 500 sultry dancers; adjacent to the dance floor is the martini lounge, which boasts an impressive selection of exquisitely concocted cocktails; and the adjoining dark, plush cigar-and-billiard lounge caters largely to a well-heeled corporate-raider crowd.
