Professional, reliable, great work, friendly 6/24/2011

I've known Rick since the mid-90s and have used this repair shop for ALL of my leather goods and shoe repair needs ever since then. Won't go anywhere else. In addition to countless pairs of boots and shoes, he has repaired my leather and fabric purses, leather duffle bags, etc. I haven't brought something to him that he hasn't been able to repair professionally. I just recently brought in a pair of boots to be ""made new again"" for the third time, because they're my favorite boots and I've worn them out three times over the last 13 years (soles and heels). He has always proved to be very reliable, professional, great work AND very friendly. He's never given me any grief about anything even when I question him about something. Makes me wonder if the customer who was yelled at to ""Leave now!"" was bitching him out, screaming at him, threatening him, or otherwise being foul to him, because that's not the Rick I know. He's always been quiet but friendly, never nasty. No matter how calm and low key one may be, we all have our breaking point when our limits are pushed by certain nasty customers. I don't usually call first, I just drop off my repairs, so I was surprised this last time to find that he only takes checks and cash (no credit cards). When I asked him why the change he said due to the bad economy, he had to cut down on certain expenses (like CC fees) so he wouldn't have to raise his prices. Good enough reason for me! more

Only a masochist would return to Cohee’s 11/18/2010

My first experience with Cohee’s Shoe Repair on Nolensville Road in Nashville will also be my last. I dropped off a pair of high-heeled boots & another pair of heels that both needed the taps replaced. When I actually visited the shop, the worker there treated me as if I were interrupting more important things instead of as a customer. He brusquely told me the total & that they only take cash & check. I’ve never been to a similar type of service shop where they charged you up front, & I was taken. Not only that, but I didn’t get a receipt, only a claim check that didn’t have the business name on it. I always want a receipt for purchases, but especially having paid up front. I was lucky that night I actually did have enough with me to pay, but I really felt this is the kind of information that he should have told me when I called to find out about this business. I can’t remember the last time I encountered a business that did not take credit & debit cards – this should be made apparent to potential customers so they can adequately prepare before they visit the store – ESPECIALLY when you require payment up front. I will say that the taps I had replaced look fine & seem sturdy when I picked them up. My issue started when he couldn’t find either pair of my shoes. Then when he finally found my boots (slender, knee-high, high-heeled leather boots that pull on – no zipper or fastener) he told me my heels were INSIDE my boots! I checked & yes, he really had stuffed my heels down into the toe of each boot. I would NEVER have done this to my shoes, as I would not want to take a chance on stretching the leather at all & have it become baggy around my ankle area. I said that I was not happy to see the heels stuffed inside the boots & would never have done this to my shoes. He said it was necessary to keep the shoes together. I think the bag I brought them in would have served that purpose much better & told him so. I also stated that customers expect their property to be treated better when they bring it for repair & I would not be back. That’s the point where he started yelling at me to “Leave now!” Then he repeatedly yelled “Get out!” & “Go!”. As I left I told him his customers did not deserve to be treated like this, that I would be detailing his behavior at online review sites to warn others & that he would not keep business if he continues acting this way. Only a masochist would give Cohee’s Shoe Repair repeat business. more
