My GF and I found this club's NYE event online and it sounded fun. We attended M.O.A.N.Y. last year, which was great. The NYE party at Club 181 was advertised similarly: all you can drink, hor 'douevers, champagne toast, money balloon drop ..We get there at 9:30, wait a long time in a short line to get our 'will call' tickets, the three women working the will call were totally unprepared, slow, had to keep asking for help. At 10:15 we are in, make our way to the bar, (mind you the event had just barely opened) but then wait 15 mins looking at the understaffed bartenders trying to get a drink. We realize that even this early everyone is ordering at least two drinks each cause it takes so long to get a drink! Finally our turn, bartender tells us he's out of club soda, coke, sprite, and all mixers! Are you F-ing kidding me? So we get vodka on the rocks, but wait, he's out of limes too!-We walk around, VIP areas (which stayed almost totally empty) take up so much of the club that it quickly gets overcrowded, coat check line is long and takes up more club space, huge fake plants take up even more room and poke people in the face.-11:00 we find the downstairs room, much easier to get a drink (at first) and they aren't out of mixers! Wow! We stay down there for a while and had a good time. BUT where's the hor 'douevers? They never had any!-11:56 suddenly DJ worns 4 mins to New Years, but there was never a MC or any info coming from the booth. Free Champagne Toast?! Nope never happened! DJ suddenly started counting down from 10. There was a balloon drop, but dident seem like any had ""money"" in them as advertised. The net for the balloons were hanging down afterwards for the rest of the night, trapping and trippn people! To top off the disapointments; there was never a raffel for the three trips that were advertised. I do not recomend club 181, nor will I ever go back.
Pros: Good music and vibe.
Cons: over promised under delivered
