Editorial review from Citysearch 9/8/2013

Drs. Joe and Linda are great, but they are clearly not on top of what the staff are doing. Also, though the office denies it was a recent change, sometime in the last couple of years they joined the ""Renaissance Provider Network"" which all of a sudden denied our access to a specialist we've been seeing for a long time (they were ""Independent Provider Network""). So use caution when signing up for this practice if you have existing relationships with specialists! I agree with previous reviewer that since Dr. Lane left, things have gone downhill. In December, Dr. Ponce was so anxious to leave at the end of the day, he missed a critical diagnosis, blowing off as the flu a serious lung condition that landed a family member in the hospital two days later. Dr. Sam has a terrible bedside manner too, IMHO. Some of the staff are friendly and helpful, but largely, customer service is horrible. The Pouzars need to clean house. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 6/19/2012

This is the first bad review I've given - ever! I'm 50. I don't visit the doctor very often. Only for the yearly check-up. I haven't been too critical in the past even though I've never seen my actual doctor at CLFP. It's always been a doctors nurse or a nurse practitioner. I recently went to CLFP for my yearly check-up and they asked if I was a new patient. No, I responded - I have been coming here for 10 years. I'm sorry, we have no record of you she said. I was then asked to fill out a plethora of paperwork as if I was a new patient. The paperwork was very redundant. I filled out my name, dob etc. at least three different times then waited 30 min for my doctor to arrive after I was seated in the check up room. As the doctor proceeded with my check-up he asked me if I wanted the proctology exam. Of course not, I said but, if it's in my best interest - let's do it. His reply was that there was no conclusive data that the proctology exam gave dependable results. Hmmm, awkward moment. Of course, I didn't want to be the first guy that insisted on the finger so, I opted out. I got the feeling that he was more uncomfortable giving the exam than I was receiving. Imagine that! He then said he'd send me next door for blood work and bid me adieu. I said ""Wait! aren't you supposed to schedule a colonoscopy or something? ""Oh yes"" he said. ""You'll have to call your GI specialist to arrange that."" ""Perhaps you could recommend somebody"" I said to which he replied ""Give me a minute and I'll see what I can find"". He returned with a couple business cards and said have a good day. I did my blood work and was told it would be posted on their new website. It has been at least 3 weeks since and nothing has been posted. I called them this a.m. and after wading through their lengthy messaging system, I was told they would get back with me. Still waiting. more

Great Family Doctors 5/12/2011

I've been with Clear Lake Family since I was 13 years old. I remember when they had a tiny tiny office. The reason that i continue to frequent them is because combine excellent customer service and sound medical care. I have never encountered a misdiagnoses. Once when I went to see Dr.Joe for some digestive issues he remembered that I had spent the summer at an archaeological dig and asked about the environmental factors! I have seen Dr. Linda and the PA as well. I have always gotten stellar service. In regards to the people that criticize the office staff, remember that they deal with grumpy sick people all day. If you greet them with a good attitude and smile they will respond in kind. If you can't treat the staff like human beings then don't be surprised when you aren't treated like one. My mom has been a registered nurse for almost 40 years and she has some definate opinions about Drs. but she loves Dr. Joe and Dr. Linda. That speaks louder than any review! more

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE 6/6/2010

This review is especially for females. If you're looking for a gynocologist, DO NOT go to this place. They will take a take the metal instrument they use on you and dip it in hot burning water and then use it against your skin. So, if you don't want to feel like you're getting branded.... DO NOT go to this place... stay AWAY! Pros: Some potentially nice people Cons: Bad methodology more

went for the first time 11/23/2009

i called and got an appointmentthat was 10 minutes later. I saw the doctor within 10 minutes once i was there. I mean i saw the doctor before i even finished filling out my paperwork for new patients! Doctor knew his job very well. My fiance is a nurse practicioner and began in the medical field as a bsn and then an rn. and for the guy that talks of government care and compassion and forgetting why they got into the medical field, n The nurses job is bedside care and taking care of you and compasion ""salvation of your health"" The doctors job in the medical field is to call the shots based on your reactions or improvments and downfalls. EX he is the nurses boss and tells her how to care for you. Doctors are usually not people persons the nurses are and nurses get into that field because they like to care for you...when is the last time you heard of a doctor staying at your house for home heathcare...NEVER...you have a nurse that takes care of you bedside when you need home health care...these people were great!! Pros: appointment on the spot, saw doctor within 10 minutes, Cons: i didnt really get any cons on my first visit more

Dependable People 10/26/2009

Neighborhood Clinic has everything at the site to provide good medical treatment! And so close to home. What more can you ask for! And smiles abound from all the staff members. I will be going back for this treatment. Pros: Great Additute! Equipment and lab on site. Cons: ? more

Go Somewhere Else... 12/10/2008

Where to begin? My husband's treatment there for MRSA ended up a nightmare. Wrong Medicine, lost the culture results, ended up in ER after 4 outbreaks only to have his face lanced! Then, for 2 weeks afterward they called and harassed us about how it was his fault! I won't even go there! \r \r Now, I've been waiting for over a week to get my thyroid prescription refilled. Walgreens has faxed 2x or more, left messages and has asked me to call to see if I can get a response. It's ridiculous! I can't wait to switch. \r \r Pros: close to home Cons: too many to list more

Go somewhere else! 10/14/2008

This group of doctors is the very worst in the Clear Lake area. Since Dr. Lane left, it's been going downhill further and further. The front office staff is so unprofessional; they are rude, indifferent, incompetent. There is always a long wait to see whatever doctor you can see. My last primary doctor left the practice without notice from anyone to his patients. I called for an appointment to see him and was told he was gone. I called my insurance company today and got my primary doctor changed to another group here in Clear Lake that has come highly recommended. Good riddance to this bunch! Pros: Good location Cons: too many to name more

Great PA 8/11/2008

I don't have as harsh a review of the office staff as teetles. Sometimes they may not be so helpful, but like most people who aren't at the top of the healthcare system, they're underpaid and overworked. My experiences with the PA have always been very positive. I prefer to go to the PA over the physician. She's knowledgable, personable and helpful. I can almost always get in to see her with minimal forewarning. In fact....I cannot recall seeing a physician there since Dr Lane left. With respect to teetles comment about being herded like cattle....well....that's what you get when you socialize medicine. Everyone wants the best and everyone wants it cheap. You can't always have both. When you turn control of healthcare over to insurance companies and government, this is what you get. Pros: PA, Easy Quick Access Cons: office staff more

Friendly but you will have to wait a lot 7/9/2007

Not very proactive and has a problem meeting appointments. Friendly and takes good time to talk to his patients but not in a lot of detail. more

Horrible 5/30/2007

Front Desk service leaves much to be desired, Do not care very well for their patients, do not respond with test results promptly, horrible PA, You feel like cattle not human, wham bam thank you mam type of treatment. If your sick you should go to a Doctor's office that cares from the moment you walk in and sit down until you see your corresponding physician. I think people who go into the medical profession forget why they do! To care for their patients and their bed side manner! It's a shame that medicine has become more of a business than a salvation for ones health issues! Would never recommend a dog go here! Cons: office staff, attending PA, appointment always late!!!!!! more
