Some relatives of mine came to visit Rochester a while back, and stayed in the downtown Clarion Riverside Hotel. The place was remodeled a few years back, but it still isn't what one would consider a four or five star hotel. The rooms are comfortable, clean and adequately stocked with the usual amenities. The ballrooms are smallish and looked a bit worn to my eye. We were also very unimpressed with the hotel restaurant (a Bennigan's I think). The food was not very good at all, and the service was slow even when the place was quiet. Its not a bad place to stay, but it is nothing special.
