I have had the privelage to go to several restaurants here as well as check out the nightlife! This is a must for people new to the area and those who have not been here in a whi...

Worst

As an outdoor mall, this one misses the mark. As a tourist destination too. Whether you're going for a movie, to shop, or to dine, it just seems like its a mess. The alley is t...

It's fun, and fairly cheap! 3/30/2003

Other than parking, you really don't have to spend a dime. Logically, you probably will pay for food... but that is the same with anywhere else. It's definitely a lot of fun to go there, though. There's a lot of cute stores to go into, that are definitely entertaining. There are also great restaurants. You should go at night, though. Then it's all lit up. Pros: fun, shopping, good food Cons: busy, parking costs money more

Wait for the kids to go home. 3/24/2003

I really like this place AFTER 10pm. The great part about CityWalk is all the stuff to do. They have great bars, nightclubs, restaurants, shops and theaters. My tip: Go after 10 pm which is the teen/pre-teen curfew. Most of the tourists and aggressive mothers with strollers nippin' at your heels have gone home. If you do happen to have kids, get them out there and home by 10pm. It's great for them. Major toy and candy shops, fast food court on the top level for keeping your budgets in check. Plus they have a great fountain for them to play in on those hot summer days. NOTE: With all this fun for adults and children comes the Bill. Pretty pricey. Nothing about this place is free. Just to have a cheap lunch here will run you about $17 bucks. That includes parking and a nice lunch at panda express. Pros: Restaurants, Nightclubs, Theaters Cons: Expensive Parking, Expensive Shops, Expensive Everything more

Universal City Walk is not totally free 3/1/2003

Universal City Walk is advertised as a ""free attraction"". This is not entirely correct. One can't go into Universal City Walk unless one pays for parking, even if one is stopping just for a moment to pre-purchase tickets for a midnight show. Otherwise, it is an enjoyable, if albeit a little overly-commercial, experience. Perhaps parking could be validated by the businesses, or the first hour could be free. more

free??? 2/22/2003

does anybody consider that parking runs around $6.00?? that's what it was around five years ago. it didn't have any of the attractions that i would find at, say, downtown disney (free parking for the first 3 hours) or for that matter, long beach or cerritos towne centers. they carry most of the same stores and some of their restaurants can be found in a bit more shi-shi malls (like fashion island in newport beach). so why pay for parking? when did it parking become""free""?? there are zillions of things to do in socal - don't waste your time at citywalk. instead, try old town pasadena (yeah, but if you find parking on the street when the meters are off, that's when most ppl show up anyhow) or check out the nighttime views from one of the local mountains. sheesh. come up with something more creative already! Cons: parking (must pay), crowded, lots of ppl under 21 more

A Big Ripoff 2/22/2003

The $8.00 fee for parking, excessive noise from the musicians and street entertainers and huge video screen between restaurants, excessive #'s of customers allowed at one time, etc. makes for a feeling of complete chaos, and the couple of nice restaurants on-site absolutely does not make up for these conditions. I've only been there 1x. I'll never, ever go again! Pros: 2 Nice Chain Rest'nts Cons: Unchecked Crowds, Expensive Parking, Expensive Prices more

Not exactly free! 2/6/2003

Unless you want to park down on Ventura Blvd. and walk up the hill, visiting CityWalk will cost you a whopping $8. Also, this place is actually just a bunch of shops, so unless you just want to stroll around and look at window displays, you're gonna spend money. It's really a fancy strip-mall. Unless window shopping is your passion, this is not a cultural excursion. Pros: neon, glitzy Cons: not free, crowded, superficial more

what about parking? 1/17/2003

You practically have to take out a second mortgage to park at universal. more

What about the parking? 12/12/2002

Um, what about the parking? It's gone up once again, and is now $8 a car. My advice is to pile as many people as you can into one car. Otherwise, you'll have to buy stuff once you're there to make it worth the parking fee alone! Also, watch out for the teenage gangsters on the weekends. It was so bad the last time I was there, I swore I'd never go back. Pros: theme-park feel, cool stores, IMAX Cons: theme-park feel, $8 parking, gangsters more

People Watching 12/7/2002

I just love Universal CityWalk, it is fun to just walk and people watch. more

Universal GhettoWalk 11/30/2002

This place is too packed with people who try to dress up just to walk a strip of a pretend city. I prefer downtown Los Angeles any day! The people of LA need to support a real city and especially bring back the life of downtown with lovely historic buildings! Have more clubs on Broadway too in those fabulous theatres. Everything is expensive and fake at Universal CityWalk. It's all ghetto fabulous! Pros: Rare oddities Cons: Expensive, Too crowded, Parking TOO expensive more

Something For Everyone 9/21/2002

If you really want to check out CityWalk I'd suggest you go during a week day. During the weekends (night) the place is a popular Date spot and it's nearly impossible to appreciate all the stuff the Walk has to offer if your cramed up in a crowd. CityWalks a great place to have fun or even just to pick a spot to sit and watch the people go by. A definate must see. Pros: Variety of Dining, up-beat atmosphere Cons: Crowded on weekends, Paid Parking, Minimal Validation more

Scenic Views Dazzles the Eye 9/19/2002

The views are eye candy for the eye. I was so impressed with the large sculptures leading up to Universal Studios. We ate candy apples, ice cream, barbecue, you name it. The food is slammin'. The center of the walk has a big screen for all dining in the food court areas to ENJOY! My sweartheart said he was overwhelmed by how many stores, shops, and restaurants this place had to offer. You've definitely got to take pictures beside the Universal Studios water fountain. Sharon Grandberry-Burton more

hell on earth 9/4/2002

Universal City Walk is the last place a Los Angeles resident wants to be. It teems with tourists and teen-age gangster wanna-be's. Unless you truely enjoy relentless noise and sweaty crowds, stay away from the City Walk. Pros: location, facitlities Cons: cost, crowds, noise more

City Walk to fun 8/26/2002

City walk is my favorite place to go. Many different places to go. Things to see. You can see a magic show, play in the shooting water fountain and see a movie all in the same place. I love this place. You can also go bowling and play video games. Pros: many different events, great variety of food, price Cons: very busy more

FREE? No Way! 8/21/2002

This place is under one of the ""best free attractions"" when it actually isn't free! Parking has been raised up to $8.00 for cars and I believe $10 for vans and trucks? I'm not too sure on that! Universal Citywalk is a place where I go to eat, relax, and enjoy scenery. It's pretty much an outdoor mall/shopping center with some fine dining and not so fine dining. It's a GREAT social area, and fits more of the 21+ scene (drinking socialably at restaurants, etc). It's got great restaurants such as ""Tommys"" ""Karl Strauss"" and ""Gladstones"" if you're looking for great stores, this isn't the place, but if you're looking for good food, you can find almost anything here from burgers, to pizza to fine dining! Pros: Open late, GREAT food! Cons: hard to find parking, crowded more

Better Before 8/7/2002

The CityWalk isn't free I agree. It's nice if you've never been there, or are trying to kill time before a concert at the Universal Ampitheatre. I wish they wouldn't have taken out the Marvel Universe Restaurant. That was the best thing at the citywalk. They need to bring it back!!!!!! Pros: nice atmosphere Cons: nomore Marvel Rest., expensive parking, crowded more

costs $$$ 8/5/2002

Doesn't cost a dime? BS! Parking is expensive and the whole place is an overrated shopping mall. Stay away. more

Vibrant 7/23/2002

Great shops, wonderful restaurants, and a live atmosphere! Great place to take your family! more

ENTERTAINMENT GALORE 7/13/2002

All the shops and restaurants have their own theme, but they all exude entertainment. Just walking through CityWalk is fun. There's usually a band playing near the Studios entrance. Also there is an area where water sprouts from the ground, and everyone tests their luck in avoiding getting wet. more

Expensive, but fun! 6/27/2002

Although pratically everything is overpriced (including the food), the value is in the variety and fun factor. I can shop there for hours, not buying a thing. more
