Beware Citysearch! Do not list! 3/8/2012

I would not utitlize CitySearch. My company had an untruthful review by a non customer and they refuse to remove the review. I have asked Custome No Service to remove my company from their site and can get no response. If you are thinking about adding your company on CitySearch, you should think again. They want you to pay to respond to untruthful, non customer reviews. They have not responded to my request to remove my company from their site. At least this review is truthful. Beware of CitySearch. Use another site! more

Take online reviews with a ""grain of salt."" 3/5/2012

My practice has had actual patients write great reviews of our service, but I have also had patients (maybe even non-patients - who can tell if they are anonymous?) write some laughably horrible reviews too. I know of one because she threatened to do it when we asked her to pay her bill which had had an outstanding balance for over a year. We had never heard from this person during that entire time but when she was told she would be sent to collections for non-payment she decided we were awful and wrote a disgusting diatribe about my partner ""farting on her"" during the procedure. So, you can pretty much write whatever you want on this site and there will be no attempt made by Citysearch to verify the claims. They won't remove reviews that were obviously written as retribution. Likewise, I could ask every neighbor on my block to write me a 5 star review even though I have only seen two of them and no attempt would be made by Citysearch to verify that either. In my opinion, these sites are worthless advertising sections that pretend to be an objective forumn of commentary. Nothing more. more

Austin CitySearch Won't Correct Our Listing 6/11/2010

I find it strange that I have put reviews on this site before and they disappear, but CitySearch does not seem to be able to remove a photo on our company listed that was posted by them in error.\r \r We were told our listing would be within a specific cost range and it always exceeded that range. I have tried repeatedly to have things (like neighborhood & photo in error) corrected and the CitySearch staff tells me it is in their software or that they just cannot correct these, or that they will contact customer service again.\r Pros: CitySearch: Easy for Customers Cons: Too Expensive, Hard to deal with City Search Staff more

Retaliation? 4/30/2010

Our company paid for a listing on Austin Citysearch for the minimum 3 months. We were encouraged to set a higher ceiling, with the understanding that we would probably not get that many hits to max out our budget. They used reports that they said were from companies like ours to compare the number of likely hits.\r Problems:\r 1) It was difficult to get them to get the information reported the way we wanted. We were told it was their computer systems defauls.\r 2) We went over budget every month.\r 3) Sometimes we still did not come up on the first few pages.\r So we cancelled.\r After we cancelled they put up a picture next to our company listing, that had been on our website. This picture is a 15 year old picture of one of our junior staff & is really goofy looking. I emailed city search and asked them to remove the picture. If it were of our owner, that would be different. 3 weeks have gone by and the picture is still up.\r After two weeks, I emailed the account rep from when we had the paid listing. No response. Picture still up.\r Today I called the Austin Citysearch phone number listed. I got a machine directing me to an 800#. I called the 800#. It is impossible to speak to a person.\r This picture did not go up until after we cancelled our contract.\r After 9 emails and multiple phone calls, the picture was removed 2 months later.\r Retaliation? Prove me wrong. Pros: Pull info for a pretty good siet AT FIRST. Cons: too expensive, no follow up support, impossible to a person more

DO NOT ADVERTISE W/ THEM 4/23/2009

I have used their services since 2004 with a monthly min. budget of $15, which was meeting our needs. With ""notice"" (an email that went to our junk mail) our rate was increased to a min. of $200 per month. This is over 130% increase....No wonder no one called to talk about the change. Pros: they USE TO provide a great service to small businesses Cons: Without providing notificataion..increase rate significantly more

Question for Citysearch?????? Think about it. 7/14/2008

Everyone knows that winners of any poll or contest in any city is based on advertising.\r You pay for advertising you get awesome reviews, win awards, and get great placement in\r magazines.\r PLEASE read reviews and check out peoples city search pages before making any decisions.\r You will notice that over 90% of the ""winner's"" of City search poll's have zero review's from clients or many, many very poor ones. But lucky for them they all have BIG advertising budgets.\r \r Maybe City search should base their best of on customer feedback, star ratings, and quality of service.\r I have a business with more great reviews and more stars than anyone else in my category.\r but not a mention in any poll results. Guess I have not paid as much as the 2 winners with 1 star and horrible reviews. Hmmmm.... Overall city search has been great for my business, Just wish it was a bit more honest. I guess business is business. Shame. Pros: great source for referall's Cons: Biased polls and misleading winners of best of contest's. more

Austin's source 6/18/2002

This location is very convenient for covering events and meeting folks. The lobby of the Omni is a soothing way to start the day. I like how the site itself always evoloves into what readers want, rather than dictating the unwritten rules of the net. And, I'm addicted to rating spots across the nation! Pros: Location, Staff Cons: downtown traffic more

Great resource for everything Austin 6/17/2002

Between Texas Monthly and Citysearch, the Omni downtown is No. 1 for Austin-area info. Friendly staffers, great views of downtown and I hear they have this nifty thing where you can rate local businesses. Pros: beats 360!! Cons: fewer billboards more

Love This Place 5/28/2002

Very fond memories of this office. Was especially fun when things were just starting off and it was always bustling and exciting. more
