Tastes like you're on Vacation 1/29/2009

I tried this place for the first time and what a wonderful experience! The Pollo Guayaba is out of this world. What a taste sensation, the Guava Sauce almost reminds me of a Praline Sauce but goes so well with this deliciously stuffed chicken. It was such a Fresh and Tropical taste. The place was spacious and fun in its decor, very vibrant and tropical swanky. I would definitely have this dish again. It would be a nice place to take a date. Pros: Delicious Food!! Sensational!! more

Great Find in Katy! 9/2/2008

My husband and I went to the sunday brunch buffet and we loved it! The service was great, they explain each item to you and answer all your questions. They have a great mix of latin american dishes and everything was delicious. My husband loved the roast and fajitas. I loved the bread pudding and ceviche. We will be back and are looking forward to seeing the band they have certain nights. This a rare gem in Katy! Pros: Great food Cons: Location is a little out of the way more

very displeased!! 5/11/2008

I wouldn't even recommend this place to my worst enemy! I just got back from what I thought was going to be a special mother's day brunch, which ended up being a nightmare. We had reservations for 10:00 am and did dot get seated until about 10:45. Once we got seated no one came to our table to introduce themselves or to even ask what we wanted to drink, until we had to flag down some teenage waiter that looked very frazzled and confused! Our party was of 7 adults and 3 children, there was no menu to accomodate the children and when we went up to the buffet line, half of the the food was not refilled. The food was ok, I would definitely not call it authentic! The whole time we had to flag someone to refill our water and coffee since we had no idea who our waiter was. Once the bill came they over charged for the child as an adult and they included the gratuity. So I ended up paying for a mediocre brunch which was $20 a person and service that definitely did not deserve a $30 tip. I asked if they had comment cards and they said no, I also went to talk to the manager to let him know how displeased I was and all he could say was ""sorry."" Needless to say, I will never come back to this place!!!! more

good latin food in katy 9/24/2007

My husband & I went when it opened and the food was out of this world good. I kept having to remind myself that I was in Katy. Service great, Mojitos are good! We have not witnessed the band yet but we will go soon. I would visit again and again. more

Picky Eater 8/19/2007

Oh my god, this is the best latin food I have tasted. I am absolutely shocked that this is a restaurant in Katy.\r Definitely worth the drive from Sugar Land. The entire menu was amazing, I don't remember the name of the dish but just ask for anything in the cream sauce. They have great mojitos as well.\r Pros: Food, Food & live music on weekends Cons: Needs to be bigger more

Cuban Goodness! 7/28/2007

The restaurant itself has a modern, trendy feel but don't let this fool you of whats in store! Guyaba's food is really good ""comida casera"". When eating I reminisced of being in Medellin, Colombia with my grandma's cooking. I was extremely pleased and will recommend it to all my co-wokers and football buddies. Pros: Good Food, Fast Cons: NAN more

Finally, great Latin food and fun in Katy!! 3/29/2007

The ambiance is great...trendy yet casual. The Latin band is wonderful...great place to bring a date and have a mojito. Now the food is what makes this place stellar!! Definitely do not need to make any trips into the city for wonderful Latin cuisine and fun. more

Fantastic food and staff 11/1/2006

I took my mother and my nearly 2 year old daughter. We had a great experience - the staff made sure we had a good experience. The food was great - not the ordinary fare - very much like Churrascos - what a find for Katy! We don't need to drive into Houston now!!! more

Better than Churrasco's! 9/12/2006

I've been going to Guayaba for the last couple of months and it is much better than Churrasco's!! Guayaba certainly beats their prices and the food is fantastic and very authentic. The fridays and saturdays are a lot of fun with the salsa band - you can dine and drink and dance! Also the Sunday Brunch is a really good deal - $10 for a really good spread - they also have live music for brunch. Weekdays are much more mellow, but you get the same great food and service. I have to have a Guayaba fix at least once a week! This place is awesome! Pros: Great food, lots of fun, great environment. Cons: None!! more

great!!!!!!!!! 7/26/2006

the place is great! Now I don't have to go into town for great latin food. The service was awsome. Also the latin band on Fri. and Sat. nights are a lot of fun and I can't wait to go back! Pros: food and service is great Cons: nada more

Different than mexican food for sure.... 6/10/2006

I must say the food was full of flavor, just not what I like. The waitress was real helpful with menu. Everyone was super friendly. Service was great. A little bit on the pricey side. We spent $45.00 on main course and tea. Pros: service Cons: seating more

New restaurant in neighborhood - I'm delighted! 6/1/2006

Great food/service - love the empanadas -been here multiple times (my wife many times more) - never been disappointed. Menu prices a bit higher than I'd like. Great food! Pros: Great food, Good Service, Personable Management Cons: Prices a little high more

Best latin food in the area. 4/4/2006

Finally there is something besides mexican restaurants in Katy. Guayaba has a great latin menu with many traditional South American dishes. They do also have some mexican dishes as well but their menu definitely changes things up a bit. The empanadas are awesome! more
