Best

Food was amazing!!@

Worst

The chicken pieces were too big, and not evenly cooked.

Worst of the Indian restaurants in Bellevue Redmond area 10/9/2010

Pathetic service, uncooked and dry food and a really pathetic host. I would rate it 0 out of 5 but have to give it 1! more

Worth checking out! Chutney's Profit Margin that is... 5/25/2010

Great location! Fast Service. Food was at a good tempurature. The 3 dishes they offered for buffet included: 1.Hard boiled eggs with their signature "ketchup curry". 2.Potatoes with the same ketchup and curry signature sauce. 3.Salad comprised of large variety of iceburg lettuce and more iceburg lettuce. Chutneys Buffet price for one person: $15.00 + Tip and Tax= $21.00 Chutney's Daily Food Expenditure: 1 bottle Ketchup- $1 1 container Curry Powder-$3 2lbs Potatoes-$1 6 lbs Lettuce-$1 2 dozen Eggs-$4 Total:$10.00 For $21.00 you could recreate this indian buffet at home and feed Seattle's homeless for a week! Just something to think about...... more

Poor buffet 12/16/2009

Good: The food taste to an extent. Bad: I went for a lunch buffet and the selection was very poor. Very poor choices compared to other Indian restaurants that offer lunch buffets. Its worse for vegetarians - literally about 3 dishes and thats it. No starters, no rice dishes. The dishes too were very simple. The service was very mediocre. Only 2 ppl were manning about 15 tables and they wudn't serve bread in a timely fashion. Improvements: Better choice for lunch bufffet Better service. more

Great Upscale Indian Restaurant 11/3/2009

The good here was great. The ambiance was nice, it has a simple but classy look to it. There are other Indian restaurant with cheaper food but at chutneys you get your value for your money. It is beyond a family restaurant even if the size suggests otherwise. I nice place with perfect service more

Decent food but noisy 9/4/2006

Based on some online reviews, we tried Chutneys of Bellevue. The food is above average. However, the restaurant, which was quiet when we first arrived, became very noisy as more customers arrived. Part of this is due to the music, which is played a too high a volume. Part is due to the reflective nature of the walls. It became impossible to carry on a conversation across the table without almost shouting. more

Chutney's in Bellevue has the best ambiance 8/14/2006

Of the 3 Chutney's I've been to - this one has the nicest decor and the most professional service. I'm a sucker for anything with paneer. The nan is excellent, and the dal is pretty tasty too. more

Chutney's, a great Indian restaurant 6/26/2006

Chutney's is one of my favorite upscale Indian dining spots on the Eastside. (In fact, it is the only upscale Indian dining spot that I know of in Greater Seattle!) Other nice Indian restaurants are Cedars in the U-District and Mayuri and Udupi Palace in Bellevue, but they are not as nicely done up as Chutney's Bellevue. There are actually a total of 5 Chutney's locations around the Seattle area, but the Bellevue location (just north of Bellevue Square), is the flagship location, and the which the owner, Bill Khanna, oversees personally. The decor is very nicely done up, the service is friendly and polite, and the wine list is comprehensive. It is always nice to have a cooling Riesling or Gewurztraminer with a fiery Chicken Vindaloo :-) Anyways, I have tried the curried mussels appetizer, and it is just heavenly. The brininess of the mussels is offset by the rich coconut and curry flavor of the sauce. The two flavors complement each other like the yin and yang concepts so commonly propounded in Chinese culture. The Chicken Tikka Masala, one of my perennial favorites, is also especially well-executed here. Rich in tomato flavor, the chicken is cooked to perfection - not overly dry and stringy due to overcooking as I have noticed it being done in some other Indian restaurants. Kudos go to Bill for building up such a nice restaurant - if you do visit Chutneys Bellevue, ask for Bill, and tell him that Bert sent you. Bill is a great and hospitable guy whom I'm sure would be more than happy to listen to any feedback from you, whether good or not so good :-) more

Perhaps the Only "Chutney's Restaurant" Worthy of the Name 5/30/2006

I used to go to the Chutney's on Capitol Hill and sometimes the one on Queen Anne, but they were sold and I noticed a sharp decline in the quality of their food. I was reluctant to try this Chutneys until I learned that the person who originally owned the others still owns this one, and I was pleased to find when I went that the quality was what I remember. It isn't completely authentic, but it isn't as "heavy" and a lot of people don't share my "the more fat the better" attitude about food. I was most impressed with their use of spices: unlike many Indian restaurants, the spices compliment the flavors of the particular ingredients, rather than overwhelming them. more

good decent meal 4/8/2006

I find Chutney's in Bellevue a decent Indian place. At the Buffet you can taste the different dishes, rather the creamy sauce you find at the other Buffet's. A bit pricey but that does not prevent me from a chance to visit this nice place. The owner is very polite and seems to care about customers. Dinners are excellent and the best time to go there is on weekends, it feels very relaxed. more

Good Indian lunch buffet 3/13/2006

Yey, buffet! This place is located near the NE 8th Street exit from 405, on the Bellevue side. I have only had their lunch buffet, but as far as American Indian food goes, I can recommend the restaurant. The unusual thing about it is that they introduced non-Indian food items, such as garden salad and fruit salads, and music, including mariachi one day. more

The best Indian food with the absolute best service 12/22/2005

My husband and I visited this restaurant for the sole purpose of using our Entertainment book coupon. We weren’t expecting anything special, but from the moment that we walked in, we knew that we were in for a treat. For one, it’s a nice small, quaint restaurant. Our host was EXTREMELY nice, he even pulled the chair out for me and put my napkin on my lap! Our waitress was wonderful about suggesting things to try and was very courteous and attentive. But the best thing about Chutneys is the food. Holy smokes. The Tikka Masala is to die for, the Vegetable Samosas were wonderful and the Naan was perfect. And to boot, the waitress brought us a free small dessert to try! The atmosphere was wonderful, the restaurant was nicely lit and the noise level was low – it was an amazing dinner. It is now our favorite Indian restaurant. Whenever we can go out on a date (rare with an infant!), we sneak out to Chutneys. You haven’t had Indian food in the Northwest until you’ve eaten there, it’s that good. more

good lunch 12/18/2005

They have a buffet - but we ordered from the menu. I We had the Lamb Vindaloo, the Tika Masala which were great. The Pomegranate Chicken was really good. The service was a bit slow, but they were more geared for buffet service at lunchtime. The nan was okay, not great. I liked all the sauces and the flavors were great. more

Great service, great food! 8/18/2005

We (my family of 3) ate dinner there last night for my wife's birthday. It was superb! Try the rack of lamb. It's reasonable and excellent. Full bar and an acceptable wine list. I've also eaten lunch there--a buffet. I particularly like the tablecloth's on the tables, within an upscale building. Parking undercover is adequate and ample street parking for dinner. more
