The flavors are interesting, but the steak was tough. Service was slow with an attitude. I attended one banquet here and it was a fiasco. By the time my end of the table was...

Absolutely terrible 9/16/2011

I have been a regular patron of Churrasco's for over 20 years. My wife and I went there tonight and were very disappointed. The Mojito's were extremely sour and we sent them back. We ordered soup along with our entre and they forgot the soup. My wife ordered the churrasco steak which was very tasty but my Chicken Jalapeno had almost no sauce and was burnt. We were really put out especially because this is not a cheap restaurant. Will probably not go back to this particular Churrasco's. hopefully the one at Gessner will be better. more

Great place, good drinks, usually..... 6/16/2011

Churrascos is a great place to eat with top notch service. The cuisine is excellent and drinks are typically very good here. I have been going to all of the Cordua establishments for many years. This place is pricey, but you usually get your moneys' worth. Our last two visits were actually slightly less impressive than what we are used to. The drinks were not as good as usuall (3margaritas in a row were all watered down) and the $28 dollar snapper plate usually has the shrimp and crab meat as a topping, but was now offered as an add on for an upcharge. We go often enough that staff recognises our faces and greet us warmly every time. Bottom line, we will keep going and hope the last 2 visits were just flukes and not the norm. We enjoy every Cordua restaurant but this location was our favorite, hopefully that will stand true in the near future. more

More meat? Why yes please! 3/21/2010

This Brazilian steakhouse is a pricey endeavor. It is a world class steakhouse nessled in between a sushi house and Montrose. The waiters are dressed in gaucho attire and hover around you bringing savory cuts of seasoned meats around to you. While you marvel at the cuts, they slice off pieces of heaven on to your plate. The meat might be the focus of the restaurant, but the vegetable and the salad bar are on par with it too. Grilled artichokes as well as various cheeses and other vegetables populate this often overlooked section. I would recommend ordering a bottle of wine with your meal and going all out, because this place is for celebrations. It might be expensive, but I say splurge. Pros: Delicious Cons: Expensive more

Ratatouie 8/13/2009

I have always been a fan of this place, until 2 weeks ago when I went in for Sunday brunch and there was a rodent running around the indirect lighting above. He was trying to jump on every platter of food that came by. It was not a small rodent. It was the size of a cat. Pros: Great food and great service Cons: Be aware - keep an eye up for rodent in lights more

Not Worth the Price 2/17/2009

My husband an I went to Churassco's for our first and probably last time tonight. We were just getting off work and we had heard good things about this place so we were hoping to have a good and quick dinner. Instead we were there for two hours waiting over half an hour between each course even though I only ordered a salad with no meat as I am vegetarian. Our waiter hardly checked on us at all and the place was extremely loud. Pros: The menu has plantains and there is a little bit of a different swing to latin food. Cons: Noisy, bad service, way over priced. more

Great Churrasco steak and several ceviches 8/28/2008

I was looking for a casual dinner so I sat in the bar area, not the main restaurant, which looked very nice. Service was good, a pretty good wine list (not that i'm an expert in wine!). There are 4 different ceviches, I tried the crabmeat which was really good. I went with the 6 oz Churrasco steak, which was very good. perfectly cooked and just the right size for me, they had 3 larger sizes. It was served with a platter of sauteed vegetables and rice. Great place, probably more for a formal dinner, but I wanted to try it out. Would like to go back with a group and try the dining room experience. Pros: Great steak more

Good Food Bad Service 7/24/2008

It had been many years since I went to Churrascos. The food is as good as I remember it being, but the service was horrible. The host greeting (or lack of greeting) was lacking, we waited for someone at the host desk to get off the phone - they were helping someone that didn't appear to be a customer, but we stood there for about 5 minutes before they even acknowledge us. We sat at a table that was basically crowded up to the bar, which was fine but it was tight. Our waiter was aweful! He seemed offended that we didn't want to order an appitizer and really downplayed what came with our meal. Once he took our order he came back three times to verify how we wanted our meat cooked. Then after all that the order he brought out was wrong. Or mine was. He brought me salmon instead of steak. And then asked me again what I ordered and how I wanted my meat cooked. During dinner I was watching him wait on his other customers... he was acting the same towards all his other them. He dropped a plate of food that came about 1 inch away from falling on top of a baby that was in a car seat next our table. That would have been terrible had it landed on that baby! The table that had the plate that got dropped ended up having to get up and give the check to the bartender to close out because he took so long to take it away. The lady refilling water stood behind me, leaned over me to refill my date's water... all the while it was spilling all over the place and didn't apologize or anything. Later, our waiter took our coffee and desert order. He brought us coffee mugs and put the coffee carafs on the bar next to us but never poured the coffee. Finally after taking a table of 8's order he realized what he did and served us our coffee. Later he came back fto refill but poured hot water in my mug. I don't know where find their staff but it's bad! Luckily like I said the food was good. Otherwise I would have been really upset because it is not a cheap restaurant! Pros: Good Food, easy parking, nice ambience Cons: service is horrible more

5 Star Restaurant 4/5/2008

First time my husband and I went. Loved it. From the service to the food. Wonderful!!! Will recommend and go back, for sure!! :) Pros: Good atmosphere and music in the background was also good. Cons: Zero more

The steak is still good, not much else... 3/8/2008

For the supposedly upscale dining this restaurant provided a very loud din of people talking with no atmosphere or music. Pros: The meat is above average quality, very well prepared Cons: Noisy, overcrowded, snooty waitstaff more

So so. 2/16/2008

I had my annual Christmas Dinner here for 2007, and I had a party of 10 and everyone enjoyed the food. The potion size are a bit small for the price but the food was delicious. But it was nothing compared to Fogo De Chao for our group dining. So, I wouldn't recommend it for groups but more towards couples. I voted average for this review for the overall experienced for a group. Maybe when I come back here with just my bf and I, I can improve the rating. Pros: food Cons: parking, potion and group dining more

""Best steak I've ever had"" - so says my father!!! 12/30/2007

Not sure I'd go as far as my father but the Churrasco is consistently good and prepared to our liking. The service is always attentive and prompt and we have always had a booth seat when requested. Wine list is good (but not exceptional) and the waiters are knowledgable and courteous. We recently (Dec 2007) took a Spanish speaking guest who had some bad experiences in Houston during her visit here but the waiter jumped at the opporutnity to speak to her in her native tongue and, by the end of the night, our guest was extremely happy and chirpy. Food was cooked as requested and delivered promptly - great night. Pros: Steak more

Best meal we've had in years! 12/22/2007

My brother and I went to the wonderful Churrascos on Westheimer, this evening and we both agreed, it was the best meal we have enjoyed in years! The waiter was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and had great off the menu suggestions. The food was quick, but more than that, it was perfectly cooked. We ordered our meat medium and it was picture perfect. We split the empanadas for an appetizers and they were hot and golden friend delicious! We also split their delicious Tres Leches cake which is some of the best outside of home-made that we have ever had the pleasure to eat. Yes, the price is a little out of some people's range but it is well worth it for a once in a life time dinner experience. For the two of us we spent nearly 200 (including the tip) but we both felt that it was more than well worth it. Pros: Perfectly Cooked Food, great Ambience, wonderful selection more

NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY 10/15/2007

For a restaurant that advetises they're open until 10PM on a Thursday night, they were certainly not customer focused when they refused to seat us at 9:20PM. I had a friend flying in from out of town who had looked forward to eating at the restaurant all day, had her flight delayed, yet made it in what should have been plenty of time. Pros: Food is really good, if they decide to seat you Cons: Prove that they already make plenty of money by refusing to seat you half an hour before closing! more

Seems to have gone downhill 6/10/2007

I have been to Churrascos several times, but its been quite a while. I took my husband there for his birthday and was fairly dissappointed. We were seated in a room that I had not been in before and there was a party of about 30 people. I should have asked to be moved because of the noise. The service was sluggish at best. When it came time for dessert where they would normally give the birthday person a piece of tres leches, we got dessert menus instead. I had to remind the waiter that it was my husbands birthday. I dont know if he forgot or was try to get us to order other desserts. Our empty plates sat on the table 10 minutes or so before they noticed us. It took too long for them to offer us another drink when we were empty. My husband enjoyed his steak, but it came out medium rare rather than rare as he ordered it. This place has really seemed to have gone downhill. For a 56.00 steak, I expect perfection. I did visit Americas recently, which is the sister restaurant with pretty much the same menu )and got much better service and quality. Maybe its just the West Chase location. Pros: Generally good food and steak Cons: poor service, loud, steak not cooked right more

This is AMAZING food! 6/29/2006

Having lived in NYC, I've dined at some of the best restaurants. more

Still rates as my favorite, after 15 years 1/16/2006

I haven't been here in 10 years, but it's still great! I brought Eight Friends Out dinner club to the new and improved Churrasco's at Shepherd Square, and I love the large open room and bar area. We were seated in the private room, and it was very nice. Service was absolutely superb! The omelette with shrimp and bacon was the favorite, along with the chocolate mousse dessert, a chocolate layered tower topped with flan and white choclate. The Sangrias were giant. I am so happy they now do brunch! Pros: Superb food, Superb service, Good parking more

Best overall experience for food and service 6/8/2005

Very attentive service and excpetionally inventive food. The Tres Leches is a killer more

The BEST latin american food in Texas 3/12/2005

They have the best food, wine, friendly service. I've been going there for many years, and every single time is a good experience. You MUST try to ""tres leches"" cake, and the ""marineros"" (crab fingers), but everything on the menu is just delicious. Pros: Great food, Wine list, Friendly Service more

WOW 1/18/2004

We went Sat. pm for our anniversary and were seated within 5-10 minutes of our reservation time - we arrived early and they told us that they were running slightly behind. Our waiter was wonderful and willingly answered our questions. The wine that we wanted was out of stock, but he made a couple of suggestions in the same price range and let us try them before we settled on a bottle. The food was absolutely delicious and the entire staff was very professional. Definately will go back again! Pros: Food, Service Cons: Crowded Bar more

Definately, a restaurant to go to! 8/23/2003

Make reservations and you'll be seated rapidly. The wine list had a large variety(not a wine drinker), the food was excellent. Although it did get loud with all of the other customers talking, but very romantic place. I strongly recommend the Tres Leches dessert Very Very delicious!!! Pros: Excellent food, Awsome dessert, Great service Cons: Loud talking more

  • In Short
The interior is earthy and dramatic with black-and-red accents, animal skins and a tropical air. Starters and salads are big and bold, like sweet plantain turnovers filled with queso fresco on guava creme fraiche, or South American-style seviche with hearts of palm, avocado and capers. The infamous Churrasco steak is the main player: a corn-fed prime beef tenderloin (six- or eight-ounce), basted with garlic-parsley chimichurri and char-grilled to order.
