Poopy on Church Street Cafe 3/11/2011

Make sure to hold your nose high, as slightest hint of money will put smiles the employees, which seemed occupied with their personally lives rather than waiting on customers. Old Town Albuquerque, NM is know for its tourist trap like dinning, although some of its restaurants are very good, Church Street Cafe is not one of them. I live here, im not a tourist, but was hoping to find somewhere nice for me and my family to go for lunch. The business is defiantly a sinkhole, but not for the owners, but for the unsuspecting visitors. Be repaired to spend upwards of $15 per person for food that is only slightly better than Taco Bell. I will say the waiter did seem to be friendly, until I asked him why the bill for my burrito was itemized to $19 ($15 for the burrito plus another $2 for beef). So, if you are a thrill seeker willing and doesnt mind throwing hard earned money on average quality food. well, enough said..... more

A Must For Anyone Travelling Through Albuquerque!!! 11/15/2008

I stopped by through a recommendation of a local store owner. I was pleasantly greeted at the door by a young and friendly hostess. I was seated promptly in the most lovely back patio I have ever seen. I was placed right next to a lovely waterfall and even prettier flowers. The server was gracious and quick. I was also pleasantly surprised by the moderately priced food and how excellent it was. I had the combination plate and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to experience the local cuisine at its best. Every time I stop in Albuquerque this will be a must for me and all my friends. Pros: Everything about this restaurant makes me want to come back. Cons: Parking was a little difficult but not bad. more

Waste of Money 4/9/2008

BEWARE!!!\r \r Church Street Cafe has gone downhill. This place used to be a bright spot in Old Town.\r \r We arrived and were informed there was a 20 minute wait. 50 minutes later we asked again how much more of a wait. Turns out they had skipped our name even though we had been standing next to check in. Elderly woman said she couldn't pronounce my name, which is a common Hispanic name in New Mexico.\r \r Finally we were seated and waitress took our drink order. No silverware or napkins given to us.\r \r Waitress returned and spilled a full glass of soda on my shirt and pants. I didn't have any napkins with which to dry myself and waitress was too busy wiping table to give me a napkin. I asked her four times for a napkin.\r \r We were then moved to another table in another section of the restaurant. Waiter took our order. Again, no silverware or napkins provided. Waiter brought food, noticed we didn't have silverware or napkins and said, ?I?ll bring you some in a minute.? Instead he waited on two other tables and never did bring us silverware and napkins. I had to open their cupboard and get our own silverware and napkins to bring back to our table.\r \r Food was under-cooked. Waiter said our bill was covered due to the coke-spilling incident but I insisted on paying.\r \r This is a place to avoid. It's a shame as this was formerly a good place to eat.\r Cons: slow service; disrespectful staff; poorly cooked food more

GOOD FOOD, Great prices. 7/18/2004

The place has been one of the fifty best mexican restaurants for years. Great food, indoor seating, front patio seating and a rear patio with a fountain and flowers. If you go ask for Mark or Mike, two of the best waiters I've ever had. Try the Pueblo burger or the Pollo de Ruiz. Can't beat the price. For romance take the back patio, people watching the frontor if it's too hot go inside. Pros: inexpensive, good food more
