Best Aestheticians around 8/15/2011

I've been to other day spa before, but have to say this is the best one by far! The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. If I have any questions or concerns about my skin they are very straight forward in letting me know what I need to do to take care of my skin. They tell which products to use without being to pushy on selling the product to me. I recommend Christine's to all my friends. more

Fabulous Spa in Newton Centre 5/23/2010

From facials to massage and body treatments, Christine's estheticians have always done a fabulous job. Walking in, the lovely spa is bright and airy, with a friendly receptionist and large waiting area. Walking back into the treatment rooms it is quite relaxing and serene. They use my favorite products, G.M. Collin, for facials, which are very fresh and clean smelling. I have gone to Christine's on a few different occasions and have always had great service from start to finish. I like how the aestheticians ask and make recommendations about your skin care regimen without pushing the products for sale, which doesn't always happen. more

First Class treatment!! 1/9/2010

I went to Christine's Day Spa for the first time for the Half Day of Beauty package they offer. I left there feeling better than when I arrived!!! My massage and my facial were both fabulous and I felt great knowing that I was in the hands of a professional. My mani/pedi was also very relaxing. Everyone there was so friendly and attended to my needs. I couldn't have asked for a better treatment! I will be recommending this spa to all my friends and family!! Pros: clean, friendly, professional more

Big Fan of Christine's 1/8/2010

I have been a client of Christine's for years. I'm on city search quite a bit and when I saw the last review I decided to write one myself. No offense to the person who wrote such a negative review but I strongly dissagree with your opinion of that place. I've gotten a man/ped 2 times a month for the last 7yrs as well as facials and massages. I've gotten nothing but quality service every single time I've been there. Everyone there is polite and very helpful! I can't tell you how many times they've run out to my car to put money in the meter so I don't get a ticket. Sorry last reviewer, but I simply don't know/recognize the Christine's you described. Pros: great service and great people more

Worst Pedicure: Cold Water, Smeared polish, Rude people 1/8/2010

The Worst pedicure I've ever had in my life. 1. No spa to put your feet in. So, they bring a pan of lukewarm water that turns cold quite fast. You leave your feet in this pan for a few minutes, and then that's the end of the water part of the pedicure. No relaxing jets on your feet, nothing. And, your feet are freezing by the end. 2. The chairs are too low to the ground so you have to hold your feet up so the person can work on your toes. Very uncomfortable. 3. The chairs are not massage chairs. They have a little vibration to them... but there aren't enough outlets to have both the light and the chair plugged in... so they pull out the plug to the chair once they need the light to do the pedicure. 4. No toe spacers... just cheap kleenex. When I asked for toe spacers - the woman was extremely rude. 5. The instruments are reused without any cleaning. That's right... I watched them use the same things on the next person that they had used on me - WITHOUT ANY CLEANING. Gross. 6. No massage. The woman rubbed some lotion on my feet for one minute. 7. No parking. I had to park in a metered space - and then pay a $15 ticket b/c it only went up to one hour on the meter and I was gone 70 minutes. 8. At the end of the pedicure, they asked me to move to another space because they wanted my chair for someone else. I walked out with smeared polish and cold feet wondering what kind of disease I might get from the dirty instruments. And, they wanted $43 for this! You couldn't pay me to get my toes done there again. Bottom Line: STAY AWAY Pros: none Cons: No foot spa, reuse dirty instruments, no massage more

Best Brazilians in Boston! 10/30/2009

Christine's has the best brazilians in Boston and everyone that works there is really friendly. I have seen Suzanne a number of times and she does a great job. She is always very gentle, efficient, and outgoing. I highly recommend going to Christine's for a wax before vacation (or anytime really)! Pros: Amazing brazilians more

Best Pedicures Ever 8/1/2009

I adore Lonna (I think that is her name!) She gives the best pedicures I have ever had in my life! I have never had one last as long. I have never found anyone give pedicures as good as hers.....anywhere! The facials are okay, and the massages are very good. Love to go there! more

Great place to go to relax and get pampered! 9/21/2007

I've been going to Christine's for years and couldn't be happier with the place. The staff is first class and the atmopshere is warm and friendly. I go regularly for electrolysis, microdermabrasion, facials and massage, and love all the services I get. If you want a "factory" this isn't the place for you - it has a family-like feel to it that is very inviting. I highly recommend it! more

Relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff 6/17/2007

i've seen Suzanne a few times now for a brazilian wax and she does such a good job, she waxes small sections at a time so it doesnt hurt that bad shes so gentle and friendly she makes the whole experience more relaxing. deffinetly go to Suzanne shes the best! Pros: Friendly staff, great Brazilian wax more

Wonderful Day of Beauty 5/29/2007

I had a wonderful day off recently at Christine's Day Spa. My services included a facial, massage, manicure and pedicure. My facial with Maria was relaxing while she informed me on the best treatments for my skin type for the summer. Nuala gave me an outstanding massage. I've never felt so good. I finished with a manicure and pedicure with Bernadette who was so friendly. I usually go to Newbury St. but it was nice to find the quality and down to earth atmosphere at Christine's. Thanks for making my day so special and I will be back soon for more pampering. Pros: Great Atmosphere more

unfortunate customer service 5/3/2007

I have been going to Christine's for about two years for electrolysis and really liked it there. The staff was always friendly and professional. They lost their best electrologist, Peg, about a year ago and unfortunately the service has really suffered since then. I have not been seen one time for an appointment since she left. I usually go for about 5 minutes and have to wait anywhere from 10 minutes to a half hour to be seen. (This is quite unfair as they will charge you if you miss an appointment.) I have finally reached my limit with this poor service. I am paying them $21 + tip for 5 minutes of service and they unapologetically delay my schedule each visit. The last time I was there I arrived early, waited 15 minutes after my 5 scheduled minutes had come and gone, and then asked the receptionist what the situation was because I had to be somewhere. She said that the client prior to me was 20 minutes late for her 30 minute appointment, so everyone was delayed. I expressed that I could not wait any more and thought it was very unfair to not call me, not inform me, and make me wait for someone else's tardiness. There was no apology, no phone call, nothing to make amends. I can see once in a while being off track, but this is a consistent problem that they apparently have no intention of resolving. So I am going elsewhere because, if they haven't noticed, there are other electrologists. Pros: skilled electrologist Cons: bad scheduling, always late more

Worst massage and laziest pedicure 3/10/2007

I went to Christine's for a half day of beauty (massage, facial and mani/pedi). I was very impressed with the facial I received from Lana. She was very friendly and made the facial very relaxing. The massage had to be the worst I ever had in my life (with Nuala). I get massages at least once a month and this was terrible. It felt more like a rub down than a massage. The therapist asked where my trouble areas were and then proceeded not to focus on them. I felt more tense than before I got it...there were no techniques. It seemed she was very inexperienced. I moved on to a pedicure (Jackie). It was nothing but a 30 second Salt scrub with polish. She pushed back the cuticles and that was it. No scrubbing of the bottom of my foot. I felt like I could have done the same thing at home (definitely not worth $56). I had been to Christines in the past and was always impressed by how friendly and professional everyone was but this visit on a busy Saturday was very disappointing, enough to never go back there again. I wrote to management over a week ago and still no response. Christine's is a little cheaper than most spas and I think it shows in their "light" services. If you like to get massages and quality pedicures, I would go elsewhere. Pros: facials, friendly staff Cons: poor massage and pedicures more

Mother-to-Be Massage Disappointing 6/16/2006

After reading all the great reviews of this place, I was psyched to make an appointment for their advertised "Mother to Be" massage. It sounded great. I was totally disappointed. Despite listing a pre-natal massage in their list of options, they do not have a special "tummy table" for expectant mothers. When I told the secretary that they should note this in their listing since many people assume this is a standard feature of a pre-natal massage, she said they only tell women they don't have the table if they specifically ask when booking the appointment! Even though I told my therapist ahead of time that my hips were stiff, she didn't even touch those muscles. She also didn't do my hamstrings or the rest of the back of my legs. On the rest of the massage, I didn't find her to be a particularly skilled massage artist. Since they didn't have the special table, I had to lay on my side for half of the massage. Definitely far less effective than being on your stomach. The therapist was appologetic when I brought up my concerns about my hips and legs in the lobby, but made no offer to correct the situation. (She abruptly left at the end of the massage, so I couldn't bring it up while still in the room.) I've written a letter to management, so we'll see if they can resolve this matter effectively. more

I love this spa! 9/19/2005

I go here to get my eyebrows done; they use a green hard wax that doesn't need strips. It is way less painful then anywhere else I have been. I just got a gift certificate here and I can't wait to try their other services! Pros: friendly staff, amazing service, nice atmosphere Cons: kind of expensive more

I love this place 6/13/2005

I had a Brazilian wax done here once and it was excellent. It didn't hurt at all and the results lasted a long time. The woman who worked on me was professional and friendly. I was even late for my appointment due to traffic and they were very understanding about it. I had a horrible experience elsewhere after deciding I didn't want to make the drive to Newton again (do not go to Beau Brummel in Beacon Hill!!), and I will never make that mistake again. It's worth the drive to go to Christine's, it's one of the best salons in Mass. and the prices aren't any higher than what you would find on Newbury St. I highly recommend it! Pros: Free parking nearby, Great staff, Calm atmosphere Cons: Newton kind of remote more

Christines Day Spa for Massage is the best 2/25/2005

I am a massage snob and have fortunately found a great massage therapist at Christines. Her name Christine Cummings and she has given me and people I have recommended the best relaxing massage we have ever had. She is #1 in our book of "Best Massage Therapists"! Highly recommend this place and prices are reasonable. more

If you live near Newton, go here 9/9/2002

I've only been to Christine's once now, but I would recommend it to anyone. The staff was friendly, helpful and professional. I was put completely at ease and never felt any pressure to buy any products. more

Perky & Friendly People 6/11/2002

I absolutely love this place. I wouldn't go anywhere else. The people are great! They are always so bubbly, friendly and always ready to help. I've gone to this spa so many times and not once have I been mistreated or felt like I wasn't being paid attention to. For friendly people and great service, come to Christine's. Pros: Great service, Friendly people, Great gifts Cons: a bit expensive, small atmosphere more
