So I saw this eatery featured on NBC's ""Today"" Show earlier this spring. Thinking to myself, hmm, I'm a native to the City and love finding tasty digs, I wanted to give this place a chance. Lots of the menu consists of fried food, but that's not a deterrent for me. If you're not into that, they've got shrimp & crab poorboys and (obviously) chowder bowls to suit your palette. The staff is young and efficient. The open air kitchen lets you keep an eye on the food preparation, which is always to see where your grub comes from. In any case, I guess NBC was right: This is a tasty place that won't break your wallet. Try it!
Pros: Efficient workers, Fair prices, Open air kitchen
Cons: Unlike full service restaurants at PIER 39, Chowders doesn't validate parking
