Forget taco bell.. Chipotle!! 4/17/2006

Awesome tacos and burritos! They are made to order with flavorful, fresh ingredients. This chain restaurant is starting to show up all over the city. The guacamole is delish, but its an additional charge. Try their variety of fresh made salsas, ranging in spiciness. You can even enjoy a nice cold Corona or a margarita with your meal. Get your order in early before lunch and dinner hours because the lines can be out the door. You can forget about going back to taco bell for tacos and burritos. This is the place to be. Great tasting food and large portions, what's not to like. more

Burritos to go! 4/17/2006

I usually grab lunch at the Chipotle on Varick Street when I’m in New York City on business. The made-to-order Mexican fare is a refreshing change from your typical fast food of burgers, pizza and sandwiches. You can have a burrito, salad or tacos made right before your eyes from an array of fresh meats, vegetables, salsas, cheese and other toppings. The burritos are my favorite! Seating is available. more

Not bad for a chain 9/27/2005

NY has no good Mexican food, and the fact that it was the folks at McDonalds to get anywhere in the burrito business is just disturbing. But they aren't bad, although I would argue they are a little expensive ($1.75 extra for guacamole), however, they are huge and I generally get 2 lunches out of one burrito. more

Great chain 4/8/2005

If you haven't heard or tried Chipotle's yet and especially if you can't find a good burrito in your neighborhood, check this CHAIN out. It's a credit to chains everywhere, especially given the decline of Starbuck's from a well-maintained fru-fru chain for annoying yuppies (does anyone still use that term?) to the McDonald's-like frayed edges of decrepitude whose main value to society is it's semi-public bathroom while you are out and about doing better things. Chipotle's on the other hand... has organic ingredients in it's roster, extremely well prepared articulated rice, fresh (or at least fresh tasting) tortillas, decent hot-sauces, choice of still whole pinto & black beans, and just an overall clean taste to their burrito. It's not just good for a chain, it's good, and even made me think of the Misson in San Francisco a little bit (please don't skewer me for saying so, you snobby afficianados). The decor makes it look like a chain, unfortunately, but it's decently attractive & i actually really like the wooden and steel renditions of ancient Mayan figures they have in the one on Varick Street, at least--my 1st reaction was to ask the manager where i could get one. more
