Interesting approach to serving 11/30/2008

Overall, the food is decent for this overpriced, style over quality sushi joint (what else would you expect from wolfgang puck). The decor is great and bartenders are friendly. Unfortunately, my family had a run-in with a very unpleasant waiter who was too impatient to let us decide what we were ordering, while also being inexperienced enough to not know the difference between small and large maki roll sizes. While this point of information may sound esoteric to your standard jack in the box employee, any hole in the wall japanese restaurant waiter must have his knowledge ready. If you end up with the waiter J.T., head for the hills, or at least a more affordable, pleasant dinner elsewhere. more

NOT GOOD AT ALL 11/25/2007

I'VE ALWAYS BEEN A FAN OF WOLFGANG PUCK, BUT OUR EXPERIENCE AT CHINOIS REALLY DISSAPOINTED ME. THE HOSTESS AND SERVERS WERE REALLY NICE AND EFFICIENT. MY COMPLAINT IS WITH THE FOOD. WE HAD WONTON SOUP, SPRING ROLLS (VERY GREASY), POTSTICKERS (ALSO VERY GREASY), SESAME CHICKEN (DECENT), FIRECRACKER SHRIMP (DECENT). THE FRIED RICE WAS DRY AND TASTELESS (A VERY SMALL BOWL PORTION FOR THE TABLE, FOR $14.95) AND I HAD TO GIVE BACK THE LO MEIN (LIKE A MOUTHFUL OF SALT). AS A MATTER OF FACT, ALL THE FOOD WAS VERY SALTY. IN GENERAL, FOR THE PRICES, YOU CAN GET MUCH BETTER CHINESE FOOD AT A FAST FOOD TAKEOUT PLACE. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY GOING HERE. TRY ONE OF THE OTHER GOOD CHINESE RESTAURANTS IN VEGAS LIKE JASMINE OR JADE GARDEN. VERY DISSAPOINTING FOOD IN A VERY NICE ATMOSPHERE. PLEASE AVOID. Pros: AMBIENCE, SERVICE Cons: POOR FOOD more

good ramen and stir fry's 3/7/2007

Food is great and drinks are good (no hangar one vodka:-( )Service, however, was quite slow. Wolfgang has a great location and would be better off spending more on staffing in the kitchen. The wait help looked on with baited breath as we all awaited our appetizers and main dish. Pros: Great food flavors even in uneventful dishes such as ramen. Cons: Slow kitchen service while wait staff stood helpless more

not as good as the chinois on main in los angeles 3/5/2007

i needed a place to sit and eat and relax from walking around shopping all day. the service was average, but nice. the food is decent. the only complaint is it just doesn't compare to the restaurant in los angeles. If la natives who love chinois on main, i wouldn't recommend going here. if you liked it at this location, i HIGHLY recommend giving chinois on main a visit. especially if you happened to be there when wolfgang's around. Pros: a good place to relax and take a break from shopping Cons: doesn't compare to chinois on main more

Horrible Experience - almost missed show for an inattentive, fast food chinese, 2 hr meal. 8/24/2006

Chinois in Las Vegas is not as good as Puck's restaurant in Boston's Museum of Science, let alone a good place in Vegas. We made a reservation 2.5 hours before a show at the Aladdin (very nearby). We waited to be seated, waited to get the menus, waited to order food the length of time it took the table across from us to get their appetizer, eat it, and then receive their entree - and even then it required flagging the waitress down. We decided to try a sushi roll as an appetizer - we'd heard they had great sushi - and the pattern continued. The Sushi chef had one roll prior to ours to get out - it took him 20 minutes to get that one roll out due to his excessive chatter with the bartender, patrons, and any waitress who happened by. Our solitary roll came another 20 minutes later as I was trying to contact the waitress to cancel the roll. Upon receiving the roll, we could not use chopsticks to eat it - we had to eat it with a fork and fingers because it was falling apart so badly. I requested that the food come out as soon as possible - we had ordered a pair of wok dishes that should be really quick to produce - and they came right after the sushi was cleared. The meat tasted starchy and tasted similar to food in Chinese buffets. Then, it took a long time to get the food cleared. We had informed the waitress that we had a coupon for a free dessert with the order of an entree. After getting the food cleared by the water boy (it was requested to go, but they never returned it), the waitress took an additional 15 minutes to come and take the dessert order which further took an additional 20 minutes to come. I called a manager and complained about the comedy of errors and deplorable service which then meant that we had difficulty receiving our check - I had to wave it. The entire debacle took so long that we barely made it to the show. As a positive note, the manager did comp the sushi I had tried to cancel and the dessert that was already free. Pros: The decorations were awesome Cons: food, service, horrible management more

Vegas vacation experience 2/28/2006

We had the spring rolls for appetizer with the entrees being spicy curry shrimp, emperor's delight, fried rice with pork, shrimp and chicken, it was probably the best chinese inspired meal I have ever had. I had the tea with cream, didn't like it, should have stuck with regular tea on ice. And for dessert I had the assortment of sorbet's with a huge fortune cookie powdered with sugar, amazing, amazing, amazing. I was very impressed with the experience and now I can truly say that I walked into Wolfgang's restaurant being doubtful and walked out a believer. Pros: Food, Price, Service Cons: Cream Tea, Cream Tea, Cream Tea more

even he loved the food! 8/17/2005

I'll start off by saying when it comes to food, my boyfriend is really not cultured and is pretty much a meat and potatoes type of guy. For him to absolutely love this fusion food says alot about the place! We had orignally planned on going to the cheesecake factory in ceasars, however, the line was long and we were starving. I talked him into trying this place and we were both pleasantly suprised. We sat on the patio where we could people watch. We started with potsticker appetizers. Our waiter recommended the General taos chicken and chow fun noodles for our meal. The chicken was excellent. I have never had anything like the chow fun noodles and have been craving them since the day we left! Including our appetizers, sodas, and food, the bill with tip was only $43... very reasonable for a great tasting restaurant on the strip! Pros: excellent food, prime location, reasonable pricing Cons: slow service more

Overrated, overpriced 7/5/2004

Chinese fusion? More like overpriced chinese fast food. Wolfgang Puck should be ashamed of an establishment like this. Ordered the "special" fried rice that tasted worse than any fried rice from a regular chop-suey place. The sushi is just as bad. Using a religious figure as ambience decoration is not only distasteful, but a clear disrespect for other's religion as well. Pros: None Cons: , Over-rated more

Why bother? 5/23/2004

When you can just order take out at any local Chinese joint for $10 for what you pay $80 at Chinois? Highly overrated. Wolfgang Puck needs to be slapped for putting his name on this place. First time in a year of dining that I left no tip. It wasn't deserved. VERY LOUD! Had to ask the manager to bring the bill, as the waiter did not want to visit our table. He was too busy flirting with the screaming drunk co-eds to care. Manager didn't care either. Please, there are so many other good places to eat in Vegas, try them instead and stay away from Chinois. A 9? Try a 6 instead. Pros: In the Forum Shops Cons: , noise, decor more

French for overpriced Chinese food 4/19/2004

Ate here with a group of 4. Service was pretty good but not great. One in my group had trouble getting water refills. Server did not check on us after our food was delivered. Server was friendly, though, and helpful with recommendations. Overally the place had sort of a tired feel to it, like they were going through the motions. The food was good but not great. I've actually had better Chinese food many times elsewhere. At least the prices were not outrageous. My party seemed to enjoy the food and so I do recommend this place. Good, but it didn't really impress me all that much. Pros: Prices, Good selections, Casual atmosphere Cons: , Tired decor more

good Chinese food experience 12/26/2002

The orange beef and xxx emperior's delight are good. The fried rice is not special. Dim Sum is not worth a try. Comparing with Chinese restaurants, this one is really different. BTW, the price is relatively reasonable in Strip. Pros: good food, reasonable price, friendly service Cons: crowded dining area more

My Favorite 12/24/2002

Always come away with a feeling that I had a great meal and it was not overpriced as many of the better restaurants are in Vegas. Pros: Food Quality, Portions, Price Cons: None more

Fantastic Asian Fare 10/6/2002

Our group of 10 started our meal with a variety of sushi, which was fresh and high quality. Our feast also included an assortment of other appetisers and entrees that tested the full offerings on the menu. It was all fantastic. The quality, preparation, and presentation was first rate. The service was very good and the waitress was quite friendly and attentive without being obtrusive. I didn't care much for the ambience on the main level, but we ate upstairs, and found it to be more pleasing. Pros: great food, memu selection, service more

Good food, annoying decor 5/19/2002

The food here at this Wolfgang Puck restaurant is good but overpriced. The cuisine is fusion but predominantly Asian. I recommend the stir-fried string beans especially, but everything we tried was pretty tasty. The decor is a big mark against the place it's an annoying '80s-style mixture of colors and shapes. Service was slow but friendly. more
