The Chile Pepper is an excellent restaurant. The dishes are fresh and uncompromisingly authentic. I know my Mexican food, and know that flautas, are simple and boring. Pros: a...

The meals are good, nice sauces and fairly quick. The man running the joint (seemed like the owner) seems like he could care less that you're there. I've gone twice, and both ti...

Chile Pepper has got some solid grub 4/13/2006

Alex and I have been hankering for some good Mexican food, or Mexican like food for a while. I haven't screwed up the courage to go to the Taco Trucks yet, even though a lot of people--JB community included--have said it's a safe bet. Back to the point, I think Alex and I found our go to place at the Chile Pepper. We dropped in one day when we were daunted by the line at Musashi's. It was a pretty solid find. I can't really describe the food because I was so darn tired that day, but I do know that Alex took their card. Always a good sign. And yes, for those of you who read my Gordito's post, there was no marinara like wanna be salsa around. more

Deceptively Good 3/21/2006

Had dinner last night around 6pm with the wife. Their Mole sauce is really good, threw that on a shredded chicken burrito, a bit too much rice but overall pretty darn tasty. It's in the middle between the "over cheesy drowned mexican" like Azteca and the healthier mex like Aqua Verde. more

Addictive Chile Rellenos 3/10/2005

We really enjoy the flavors at the Chile Pepper in Wallingford. The chile rellenos are insanely great. I can't say any more because I'd have to go out and order a plate if I thought any more about it. The mole poblano is piquant, bitter and nutty. It's complex, maybe even an acquired taste, but it's wonderful. The restaurant is family run and laid back - don't expect attentive service and don't ask too many questions. The owner is nice when they get to know you. They have one old high chair and no boosters. more
