Great Children's Museum 4/9/2006

My mother recently took our family to the Indianapolis Children's Museum. We had been when my son was 18 months old, he's 13 now, so it had been awhile. This is a fun museum for the kids. My three year old had a lot of fun in the toddler room, they an elaborate water play system. She got soaking wet, so next time I think I would bring her a change of clothes. Aprons are supplied for the children to wear, but we are talking little kids here, they are going to get wet. Next to the water works is a sand table, wet kids in sand, nice combination. The museum has a pretty cool dinosaur exhibit as well. Kids can put on goggles and dig for dinosaur bones. All of my kids had fun doing that. There are many other fun activities to do at this museum. We got there shortly after they opened (we would have gotten there when they opened, but we got a bit lost) and we didn't leave until they closed. Which, reminds me of another fun thing. When they were closing, they got everyone to stand around the staircase (it's kind of a spirally ramp actually) and count down to closing. They gave most of the kids a flag to hold and wave, and then we all marched down the ramp in the "parade". My three year old got to hold a flag, and she thought it was wonderful. While we were walking down the ramp, the employees stood by waving, and we all chanted, "Come Join the Parade, come join the parade." At least, that's what my three year old told me they were saying, and that's what we were chanting! It was a fun way to end out day, and Lydia (three year old) still likes to talk about it. more

The Indianapolis Children's Museum offers fun activities for all ages. Whether you're 3 or 83, the educational and entertaining exhibits will provide hours of fun. The newest feature is a permament 43 foot tall glass sculpture by world renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly. Fireworks of Glass, his largest piece ever, is truly amazing. If you plan on going, allow plenty of time! more

I love the Children's Museum! it is always such a treat to go there. I grew up going on school field trips there 20 years ago. They have added so many wonderful features over the years. I love how interactive it is for children (and adults) of all ages and that they have discounts for those who qualify which helps to ensure that everyone can enjoy this amazing resource. more

The Children's Museum of Indianapolis! Best museum in the country! 8/6/2005

We took our daughter for the first time to the Children's Museum last week! I was impressed! The museum is very educational for any age. My daughter was 3 years old and she was learning through playing with the exhibits. They had a pre-school room (for 3-5 year olds) that had a sand and water table and they had little notes next to every display educating you on why your child does what they do and what it means. The exhibits were all very clean, interesting and up to date. The exhibits were informative enough to keep an adult's attention while they were interesting and exciting enough to keep our daughter. They had dinosaurs, a dollhouse room, an arcade room, puppet-exhibit, music exhibit, television exhibit, underground animal exhibit, Arther's World, 1880's exhibit, etc. It was definately worth it. It's $12 for adults, and $7 for children. My employer offers discounts so you might want to check on that. But make sure you leave extra time for the Dinosuar dig site and the water areas in Scienceworks. My daughter also loved the maze... and they also have a merry-go-round that the younger children love. The food court has great variety of food with reasonable pricing and plenty of seating. This is definately an all day trip so don't plan on doing anything else... we went on the weekend at they are only open from 10 am - until 5pm. And it took the entire time to see everything. It's definately worth the money. We're thinking of getting a family membership next year. more

THE BEST childrens musuem 8/5/2005

we have a family yearly membership and it's worth every single penny, not only do you get to ride the carousel for free (which is you don't have a memebership it's a 1.00 a ride) this can add up when you ride it 4 times in an outing times 4 people, they have great programs and classes. we have signed our older child up for some classes this fall and she is very excited. another GREAT value of being a memeber is the first saturday of the month they open at 9:00 (instead of 10:00) for members only - so it's not that crowded and we get an extra hour. more

Free Family Nights! Tons of fun! 8/4/2005

The Children's Museum is a great place to take your kids. But if you have younger children the hefty price is hard to swallow when you know that they'll only want to stay for a few hours. The solution? Free Family Nights! On the first Thursday of every month The Children's Museum is free from 5pm - 8pm. This is a perfect time to take your kids. We love the hands on preschool area and the carousel and rarely get too much further! The free nights can get crowded and many parents don't keep track of their kids, but it's still fun! more

Don't miss the Carousel 8/1/2005

Priceless Always something different here at the Children's museum. But don't miss the regular exhibits, either!! The have a mummy exhibit that will amaze you; the dinosphere is absolutely incredible, miniature collection, trains, race cars, climbing wall and more, more, more. Don't miss the carousel ride on the top floor, it's sure to be a hit with both the young & old. Also, Lilly Theater...wow! You have got to see the productions in the theater. Included in admission price. In October, don't miss the haunted house. It's a scream! You really should invest in a membership. You'll earn it back in approximately 2 visits. They have a new garage for parking (free) and it has a skywalk from the garage to the museum. more

Once your children get inside they'll never want to leave! 7/28/2005

We have spent countless days enjoying this wonderful children's museum. Filled with rooms and rooms of theme-based hands-on educational opportunities, it's easy to spend hours before you even realize it. The baby and toddler room is especially enjoyable for the youngest of children, giving opportunity for building, wet and dry pouring play, climbing, and other stations aimed toward their important development. Like most children's museums, the ticket prices are expensive, but if you really enjoy yourself consider buying family year-long passes. more

Children's Museum 7/11/2005

The Children's Museum is a great place to spend a day with a lots of fun things to do. There are several levels that are well laid out and easy to visit even with strollers. It is fairly reasonable for a family except for the gift store seems a little pricey but they do have some unique toys. They have a great dinosaur area to learn about them, they have lots of hands on activities including sand and water play. Our favorite part is the huge indoor beautifully restored carousel that you can ride on. more

Something for all ages 7/8/2005
