pretty good 12/22/2005

this is the only real "children's museum" in town. it can't really stand up to a comparison of some of the bigger and better ones on the mainland, but it holds it own. it also has gotten better over the last couple years, i think. one thing--there is a "toddler" section, which is quite small, in the first part of the museum. but for the most part, it really isn't worth your money until your kid is walking and likes pretend play, so that means at least 2 years old if not later. we got a yearly membership as a gift, and my dd is JUST starting to enjoy it and "get it" and she's about 18 months. also, you have to park your strollers at the door, so if your kid likes to be carried a lot, bring a sling or backpack. more

Great place for preschoolers 12/16/2005

My sons preschool class went here and it was definitely the perfect age to enjoy this place. There was a place that was like the human body where kids can go in and different things to touch and play with. There was a little town where you could dress up and play grown up. It included things like a supermarket where kids could either be the shopper or the sales clerk ringing up the food, shop for fruits and veggies and milk and more. There was also a firetruck where you could dress up like fireman, the inside of an airplane, and so much more. In another area there were stairs you could climb so you could drive the wheel of a ship and lookout from, there were fish costumes to dress up like a fish, there was a stage where you dress in costume and be an actor. There was even a huge bubble machine where children could make huge soap bubbles. This is a fun, interactive place perfect for preschool age kids. more

Fun Place for Kids 9/18/2005

The Hawaii Children's Discovery Center provides a world-class, interactive, participatory learning environment designed to inspire the young and "young-at-heart" to new heights of learning and discovery. They have numerous displays and exhiblits about the human body. The Center provides an environment that encourages children to use their senses of touch, sight, hearing, and smell to gain a better understanding of the world around them. more

Good Interactive Center 9/6/2005

This is an interesting place to take your kids since it is very educational. It can be a little boring for older kids because it doesn't have the excitement of an arcade center like Dave and Busters. I would recommend this place to anyone with very young kids but I wouldn't recommend this place to folks with older kids. more

Fun Day with the Kids 7/9/2005

The Children's Discovery Center is a 3 story, warehouse style building offering a world of learning and discovery options. It has a room that is of the whole body complete with the circulatory system overhead. It has dressing up from different cultures. It has a science area with a big bubble maker. And my kid's favorite, the mini town with bank, grocery store, fire station, bus, dr office etc. It is all hands on. Be advised it is closed everyday at 1:00 pm, so get there early to get your money's worth. more
