When I dined at The Firehouse Restaurant for the first time, I was really excited. I love buildings with history, as being an old firehouse, they kept many parts of the firehouse...

I was hosting my customers from a well known beverage company and asked that the restaurant make sure that this particular beverage brand was available during the banquet. I went...

Love the vintage building and the ambiance. Steak was excellent as well as the service. Side of mashed could have been hotter tho. more

The Fire House 5/5/2006

The coolest thing about this restaurant might be that it's housed in an old fire station in the south loop. The building is beautiful, and they seem to have used a light touch when they converted it into a restaurant. The food is expensive, but delicious. It's sort of an upscale steak house, with plenty of other things on the menu. For a special occassion, this place is definitely worth checking out. more

An Average American Restaurant 9/16/2005

The Chicago Firehouse is located in the new found neighborhood of south loop. I visited the restaurant without a reservation on a weekday and was prompted seated. There was live music on that hot summer day in the courtyard, but my friends and I skipped the music for indoor seating due the heat. As far as the food goes, the lobster bisque was creamy and tasty and my Cobb salad was just right. I also tasted my friends' fish dishes (some white fish) and it was alright. The quality of the food was good, but nothing special. All-in-all, I would just the prices are above average ($20-$30 per entrée) given the average food. more

Chicago Firehouse Restaurant 8/25/2005

We visited the Chicago Firehouse Restaurant recently as a new and different place to try with a couple of friends. We had a reservation and were seated immediately when we arrived. The restaurant was busy, but not too crowded (it was a weekday evening, though). Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu, and made a great selection on the wines to accompany our dinner. The food was just okay. I've had better steaks elsewhere. The atmosphere was very nice, though. Comfortable banquette tables, adequate lighting (maybe a little too bright, though). It was worth a try, but I'm not sure we'd go back. more

Cozy Hideaway off the Beaten Path 8/5/2005

This charming and increasingly popular restaurant located in the heart of the thriving South Loop area (where Mayor Daley makes his home) opened only a few years ago and occupies the renovated headquarters of the actual old Chicago Firehouse building. The interior is quiet, subdued and tasteful with dark green carpeting, lots of dark polished wood and big spacious banquettes. A large bar (with its own bar menu and seating) occupies the front of the restaurant with a small terrace available in the rear for outdoor dining. The food is good, homey American cuisine leaning in the direction of comfort food, with dishes ranging from a Philly cheese "chicken" sandwich to chicken with leeks and roots vegetables to meatloaf. more

Built in 1905, this lovely old firehouse has been sumptuously restored with a handsome cherry bar, plush leather booths and club chairs. The real charm of this place, though,...
