Chicago Cultural Center 6/5/2006

This conveniently located center (Michigan Avenue and Randolph Street) is the perfect spot to find out what's going on in Chicago. The building houses a variety of events--from plays and musical performances to traveling art shows. It's a good place to get the latest information on free activities in the city or, for the tourist, to collect brochures and information on fun things to do and see in the area. This is also a relaxing place, where you can sit and enjoy lunch at the Corner Bakery or, if you work downtown, feel free to bring your own lunch and enjoy a noontime concert most days of the week. There's a small gift shop carring museum-quality gifts. The Cultural Center is housed in the old Chicago Library, and a real treat is seeing its Tiffany stained glass dome, the largest ever made. This is a good place for tourists and Chicagoans alike to explore. There's always something new, and always someone there to help you find your way around Chicago. more

Great building downtown chicago 3/18/2006

The cultural center is a very nice building. The insides are great. One of the thing I enjoyed there is the free concerts they have. I have attended some good indian classical music there and enjoyed my time. Plus it is free. This is right downtown by millenium park. So catch a concert there sometime for free. If you like architecture and all that you will like it a lot. I really don’t comment on all that. You must see for yourself. more

Here comes the bridddddddddddde... 2/16/2006

They have a great area to have your wedding reception. Call and ask them for more information, as far as I understand it's free. The pedway under will take you to Marshall Field's and they have great music for free too! I love coming here to take pictures because of the architecture. more

The Chicago Cultural Center 12/27/2005

This is a grand old building that is a worthy destination point if you are visiting Chicago. If you are a local, you are familiar with this place. It used to be the main public library, and I have been coming here since I was a kid. Then I came to take out books, but I never tire of marveling at the craftsmanship and art that went into this building. It has incredible mosaic tile walls, and the most amazing Tiffany glass in the auditorium on the third floor. It has the world biggest Tiffany chandelier and it is a sight to behold. They still hold free noon concerts in this space and it is worth coming by to absorb some good vibes. There is always an art exhibit or two to visit, and other wonders to behold. http://egov.cityofchicago.org/Tourism/CultureCenterTour/ more
