Every person I've worked with in this office has been great. And I've seen a lot of them even though I've only been seeing Dr. Cheryl Rice since mid-December. Five visits in two weeks! That's what happens when you want to maximize your dental benefits at the end of the calendar year (and you haven't been to a dentist in a decade). I had a full set of x-rays taken, a cleaning, and some fillings for some small cavities. Also, she made a recommendation that I get my wisdom teeth extracted. Perhaps one of the coolest things about this office is that they will do an estimate of the costs and how much you will have to cover for your co-pay.
The first sign of great service was when I called the office and reached Nancy at the front desk. She noted my concerns re: not having seen a dentist in a long time, and then scheduled me for an appointment for the very next day. After my first appointment, she was able to squeeze me in to four more appointments for the remaining two weeks of the year, shuffling things when necessary so that I could see the same hygienist!
Jessica took my x-rays and talked me through the entire process. She even showed me my x-rays afterwards and explained how they could tell where I had cavities. She was very friendly and easy to talk to, as was every single person I saw after her. Helen, one of the hygienists, came in and did a quick check of my teeth and gums. As a self-proclaimed BIG flossing advocate, she made the only real speech about flossing that I heard (and it was a very brief, non-accusatory one). Then, I saw Dr. Rice, who examined me and told me I was very lucky because my teeth and gums were healthy even though I haven't been good about flossing or seeing the dentist. (Yay!)
The next time I came in, I saw Jamie for a cleaning. She was so gentle that I didn't feel a thing. She said I might need an ibuprofen later, but I told her right when she finished that no pain meds would be necessary at all. Dr. Rice checked in on us, something I later learned she does with every patient. I think that's very cool and indicative of her approach in general.
I came in once more to get the remainder of the cleaning, polishing, and fluoride done before my appointments to get the cavities filled. (They split them up so that only one side of my mouth was worked on during either appointment.) I was a little worried after the first set of cavities were filled because my teeth were still sensitive to food and temperature changes when I came in a week later, but the doctor reassured me that the nerves in my teeth were just inflamed and that some people take several weeks to get back to normal. Also, she said some sides of the mouth are more sensitive than others. So true! My second set of fillings gave me no trouble. I never had any problems chewing on that side of my mouth at all.
Now, exactly two weeks after the first set of fillings, the right side of my mouth is just about back to normal and I'm confident enough to wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Rice and everyone on her staff.
