deceptive business practice 11/14/2011

Deceptive business practices! Each time our company changes dental insurance They "offer" to ceck the insurance for us. We just found out they were not telling us they are not a "preffered" provider! They would just ell us they are "covered". Yes, Ok, I should be more diligent. But this time, I asked them to check and they had a very dishonest approach. They said I am coverd at 80%, and I just checked it is actaully 100%. i had to ask office staff five times why they are only 80%. They answered things like 'your lucky, some people dont have insurance" or "think of insurance as somehing just just helps pay the bill" and my favorite (NOT) "look how muc we have to discount our services already for your insurance company" Two questions later they finally told me they are not a preferred provider! Then I ofund out the last time they 'checked for me" , they did NOT mention this either. This is the same as a lie. The first answer should be truthfull and it should be 'sorry we are not a preferred provider on your insurance' I used to think they were great, The doctors are great. but i would not go back even if they were a preferred provider. They have a standard proceedure to not mention this important fact. This is a deceptive business practice and I will be complaining to the A.G. and the insurance commisoner. more

Great! 2/1/2010

The office staff is helpful and friendly. They helped prioritize the teeth that needed repairs first and which crowns we could put off. ( I had a mouth full of cracked crowns from another dentist). They made it much easier in determining how I was going to use my insurance benefits most effeciently. more

Everything you could ask for in a dentist and staff 1/6/2006

Every person I've worked with in this office has been great. And I've seen a lot of them even though I've only been seeing Dr. Cheryl Rice since mid-December. Five visits in two weeks! That's what happens when you want to maximize your dental benefits at the end of the calendar year (and you haven't been to a dentist in a decade). I had a full set of x-rays taken, a cleaning, and some fillings for some small cavities. Also, she made a recommendation that I get my wisdom teeth extracted. Perhaps one of the coolest things about this office is that they will do an estimate of the costs and how much you will have to cover for your co-pay. The first sign of great service was when I called the office and reached Nancy at the front desk. She noted my concerns re: not having seen a dentist in a long time, and then scheduled me for an appointment for the very next day. After my first appointment, she was able to squeeze me in to four more appointments for the remaining two weeks of the year, shuffling things when necessary so that I could see the same hygienist! Jessica took my x-rays and talked me through the entire process. She even showed me my x-rays afterwards and explained how they could tell where I had cavities. She was very friendly and easy to talk to, as was every single person I saw after her. Helen, one of the hygienists, came in and did a quick check of my teeth and gums. As a self-proclaimed BIG flossing advocate, she made the only real speech about flossing that I heard (and it was a very brief, non-accusatory one). Then, I saw Dr. Rice, who examined me and told me I was very lucky because my teeth and gums were healthy even though I haven't been good about flossing or seeing the dentist. (Yay!) The next time I came in, I saw Jamie for a cleaning. She was so gentle that I didn't feel a thing. She said I might need an ibuprofen later, but I told her right when she finished that no pain meds would be necessary at all. Dr. Rice checked in on us, something I later learned she does with every patient. I think that's very cool and indicative of her approach in general. I came in once more to get the remainder of the cleaning, polishing, and fluoride done before my appointments to get the cavities filled. (They split them up so that only one side of my mouth was worked on during either appointment.) I was a little worried after the first set of cavities were filled because my teeth were still sensitive to food and temperature changes when I came in a week later, but the doctor reassured me that the nerves in my teeth were just inflamed and that some people take several weeks to get back to normal. Also, she said some sides of the mouth are more sensitive than others. So true! My second set of fillings gave me no trouble. I never had any problems chewing on that side of my mouth at all. Now, exactly two weeks after the first set of fillings, the right side of my mouth is just about back to normal and I'm confident enough to wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Rice and everyone on her staff. more

The holy grail of dentists 7/20/2004

For many years now, I have been jumping around from dentist to dentist trying to find a good one. I don't know if this is universal with dentists, but every dentist I encountered before Dr. Rice was just not up to par. I was beginning to think that I would just have to suffer through it. I mean, my last dentist did a deep cleaning and fillings with only a topical gel. I didn't know any better, but apparently being in that kind of pain isn't standard! Dr. Rice is truly excellent. She makes a point of educating you on what she is doing. She is friendly and does not harass you (floss! floss!) about your teeth, and she is all about pain management. I felt nothing! Woo-hoo! Not to mention, she did beautiful work on my two front teeth fillings. I had them done before by a previous dentist, and they were kinda bumpy and not very smooth. She has the finesse. You can tell she actually cares about what she does, and that she makes a huge effort to do the best possible work. Furthermore, all of the staff at Meydenbauer is extremely friendly and helpful. The offices are very cozy and modern. I've been to see Dr. Rice twice now, and I just feel so relieved to know that there is at least one good dentist out there, and that I finally found her! more
