This amazing little gem is not well known in the area. But it has all the ameneties of a modern library and some that the average person will deem wasteful. They have an amzaing collection of books in all genres. Plus they have a great computer lab and laptop loan desk. Great place to spend a few hours. more

Grand, but lacking 7/27/2005

I like the Cherry Hill Public Library since it is a very welcoming public space, and is a comfortable place to spend time in. The furnishings are luxurious, extravagant to a point. There are many computers with free internet service. What I don't like is how the library seems to be lacking in the things that draws people in there in the first place: books. While there are many plasma TVs blaring messages all over the library, I found that the SAT test preparation books I was going to check out for a family member were dated for the 1999 test, and I found that many shelves were empty. I would have rather had a library with lots of books, in a less palatial building. The library is a good deal though, it is free. We all pay for it with our high taxes. The Cherry Hill Public Library seems to specialize in computer access rather than books. They are very sophisticated, and if you need to use a computer, I would come here. It is this abundance of computers that makes them special; other libraries in the area offer only a few computers, and you have to wait for a while just to get on. This library offers a high-speed Internet connection, and I have never had to wait for a computer here. So-so. They need more books!!! more

Luxurious, yet lacking 7/13/2005

This library takes the term "luxurious" to a new level. It is well appointed with many plasma tvs (to display announcements), a cafe, and tons of new computers and meeting spaces. The furnishings are very comfy, and the place feels homely. The exterior is reminiscent of a mansion. And there is lots of nice landscaping. But, I do not really like this library for several reasons. One, the shelves are bare and many of the books that are here aren't current. Two, some of the staff are not too helpful. And, lastly, it is hard to access the books. (For a summer reading project assigned to 900 students, having only three copies of one of the allowed books is pretty bad.) I would prefer to have a less opulent library that had more books, music, periodicals, and videos/DVDs than this behemoth. Still, it is a beauty! more
