Much to my surprise, our room was very clean, did not smell at all other than the smell of clean and somewhat of the indoor pool. I checked the bathroom, the sheets, everything was clean! We decided to stay. Within an hour we were down at the indoor pool, which hosted several other families and the water was as warm as a bath. It was fabulous. The families were great and our son had a ball. Next we ventured through the gardens to the Cafe. Our server was Kevin and he greeted us with Southern charm and professionalism. The food was amazing and children under 10 yrs. old eat free. Upon calling it a night we realized the bed was as comfortable as most hotel beds and the TV got plenty of channels. The next day we were off to the mountains for a hike via information from Lynn at the front desk which was an amazing way to start the day. We ventured downtown after that on the free shuttle that the hotel staff informed us of and wandered through beautiful Chattanooga. We were so impressed with the food the first night that of all the options in town we went back to the Choo Choo for the Prime Rib dinner buffet. Again, service was great, food was amazing! I must say...after being in customer service over 30 yrs. most of which is in restaurant service and management as well as working in Luxury Property Management in downtown Chicago for over 11 yrs. The Chattanooga Choo CHoo was our favorite hotel experience of 4 different hotels over an 8 day road trip. Thank you to all your staff for the wonderful end to our vacation, we will be back. more

Super location and food coupons for kids. Nice pools. Garden Restaurant had good value. Coupons given cut the price to make the total a value package. The free city tram is right there. The pools sparkle. Room was oversize and comfortable and quiet. more

Our family stayed at the Choo Choo for 2 nights and had a wonderful time. There were 3 pools to choose from, a hot tub, pool tables etc. We really enjoyed our trip and I will recommend anyone to stay there. more

Another great time at the Choo Choo Fabulous....this is a hotel that keeps on giving!! This was my second time visiting Chattanooga and I wanted to return to the hotel for another relaxing and enjoyable stay ....they did not disappoint! There was a concert in town and we got to meet a few of the interesting guests staying at the hotel....they were a hoot! I had the rib-eye steak dinner in the Garden restaurant, I was very pleased with my meal which was prepared to perfection and also with my waiter Spencer...who obviously loves his job. Everything was great, and I would definitely recommend this historic delight to all my friends. more

My husband and I have taken our grandaughter and her friends ages 5-7 here 2 times. The hotel property is beautiful and grounds well kept. We always get the package deal and for the kids it is a great value, includes tickets to aquarium, zoo, discovery museum, etc. We are looking forward to going back on a trip just for us to see the historic sights that we enjoy. Staff is always nice, Food at the gardens resturaunt is great and value is good,we always stay in the Hotel 3 building we enjoy the balcony and the view of the outdoor pool and hottub and waterfall. In colder months there is an indoor pool. Centraly located to downtown attractions and CARTA shuttle bus is great. more

We recently stayed at the Chattanooga Choo Choo and had a wonderful time! It was so easy to get to from the highway. The staff was wonderfully hospitable! We enjoyed the history of the place and enjoyed our hotel room (which I thought was very spacious). All the downtown attractions were easy to get to as well. The restaurants were really good too! Great food! Great service! We will always stay at the Choo Choo when we visit Chattanooga. We made a lot of great memories on this trip! more

Beautiful place to see at least once if you are in chattanooga. I love the old train cars that you can stay in. The dining carts are also a neat experience that you should give a shot. All in all it is a cool place to visit and walk through to see the history of the train industry in chattanooga. more

Pretty building, we stopped by for a potty break and to see what the cool sign was for. It was decorated for Christmas, which was gorgeous. Loved peeking around at the old train station. Played some games at the arcade and got a mocha from the shop. Nice little historical information set up around the grounds. A good hour or so stop. more

Yeah, that's right--I stayed in a train car. I stayed on the Chattanooga Choo Choo. \r \r Pros: I was on a train car!!!! On tracks!!! It's got beds and dressers and a television and a bathroom. It's a hotel room but really, it's a train car!!!!\r \r Cons: 30 gallons of hot water. Then, well, you take a cold shower or wait a few hours. The car sort of sways and shakes very slightly when the wind blows. But that's because it's a train car!!!!! \r \r The hotel is gorgeous. The main lobby is the terminal with gorgeous architecture. The gift shop and restaurant have lots of choices and are staffed by some of the nicest people (ooh, cute boy in the gift shop too! I sang the ballad of cute boy until he overheard me and I ran out and ate a moonpie, for shame for shame).\r \r Staying on a train car instead of in one of the buildings is pretty costly, but that's because it's a, say it with me, TRAIN CAR!!!!\r \r Truly a unique experience. more

It's all about the common areas. It's an historic old railroad terminal with an impressive lobby. All common areas are carved out of the historic building. Many rooms are in rail cars lined up on old platform. They have beautiful gardens more

FYI, my son and I stayed at 18 different lodgings during our month of July road trip the Choo Choo Hotel was far and away the best of them all. We had a great time and were really happy with the service. We will definitely return. more

The rooms offer you a wonderful view of the city and the morning sunrise. To be in a big city, you've managed to bring the country side over. Beautiful design. And then the shops, the Station House, the front lobby with all of its grandeur and the quaint restaurant off to the side playing their music with your foot a-tapping under the table. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 9/9/2013

We stayed in your hotel the 4th of July weekend and we absolutely\r fell in love with the place. This was the best family vacation that we've\r ever had, and I want to thank you for having wonderful staff, especially our\r waiter Charles. The food was also very good. We will have to come back! more
