African American salon. Per Manta, this place brings in nearly 300K per year. You wouldn't know it! It's fairly dirty. Equipment is old. Seats, especially in the shampoo area, are...

DUMP LISA TAKE UP TRINA 5/5/2007

Lisa also gave me a very very bad cut. Funny thing is that she was so good at talking up the cut like it was going to be really great and it ended up being really choppy and uneven. In the front one side is longer than the other and I always have to wear a hat now to try to hide it. My hair grows very very slowly so I have no idea how long it will be before I can wear my hair in public again. Its true about the qualifications of servince in the salon... they vary and it really depends on who you get. If you want someone who is really really good go to Trina, she's very very meticulous, does not cut too much off (cuz you kno us black folk love to preserve our lenght!) and she's a sweet heart too. more

Horrible experience! 4/1/2007

I went here the night before a big job interview, which was a very bad decision. The woman who did my hair, Lisa, did a terrible job! I went in with long, one length hair and bangs. I came out with 3 waterfall-type curls on the back of my head and the entire front of my head was turned into helmet-like bangs. When I got home and washed my hair, I found that multiple choppy layers were cut into my hair, some very short, in an inverted V shape. I have a huge nick of missing hair in the back and my bangs also had a nick in the middle. The top layer of my bangs was cut a half an inch longer than those underneath, likely because the stylist realized that she initially cut them too short. The cut is not acceptable for my workplace (I'm a tax lawyer), or the place where I was interviewing. I'll have to wear my hair in ponytails for months to grow the chop job out and was charged more than the salon normally does ($55) for this nightmare. This place is probably great if you want a style that looks like it came out of one of those trashy hair magazines or a hair ball, but is likely not for you if you need a more sophisticated look. more

Go elsewhere 2/4/2007

African American salon. Per Manta, this place brings in nearly 300K per year. You wouldn't know it! It's fairly dirty. Equipment is old. Seats, especially in the shampoo area, are cracked and caked in the seams with dirt. On my first recent visit, the stylist did a beautiful job. The service was very poor, however, during my most recent visit. I was kept waiting at the shampoo bowl for nearly 20 minutes. The stylist then dried my hair and did a dry cut. The result was very uneven and the styling was inappropriate for my conservative profession. If you must go, Dawn's been there for years and generally does good work. Pros: Experts in African American hair Cons: Cleanliness, staff can be unprofessional, quality of service varies widely more
