Chalmer's is a very small old-fashioned neighboorhood hardware store. They don't have a very big stock, and their prices are higher than many of the other stores in town.
You'd think that with these factors, they'd try to make up for their comptetive disadvantages by emphasizing service and customer satisfaction. Unfortunately, this is often not the case. Sometimes the staff is helpful, sometimes they ignore, sometimes they are rude.
Bottom line: Since I live in the neighborhood, I'll go in there for a very quick trip to buy something I absolultely know they'll have, if only to save a longer trip to the other side of town. Otherwise, I'll head off to Pret's, Home Depot, or even Lowe's on the Mainland.
