As the old saying goes get a good shoe some good care and it will serve you a good amount of time. I am very pleased with Cesar's service, every time I bring my shoes there for repair it feels like they are returning a brand new pair! more

Your review GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!? - ? unless you want to experience unbelievable rudeness and hostility. After reading many similar negative reviews, I felt encouraged to share my experience. I agree with chocola. I have used Cesar's for 25 years. The fact that I was such a long time customer made no difference. Cesar Andrade was a lovely person, however, his manequin-like son Edward (current owner) is a mean, hostile, arrogant jerk. I have always found him argumentative and condescending. The ""yes, ma'am"" behavior is just an attempt to conceal the contempt that he actually feels for his customers. In this down economy, I had noticed dramatic increases in prices, turnaround time, and ugly behavior by the owner. I continued to use them because they do a decent repair and because of the long history as a customer. In November, I took 2 pairs of boots in for repair. It took over a week and when I went in to pick them up early (not noticing that the pick-up time was several hours later), rather than checking to see if my boots were done, the owner started to argue with me and told me to come back later. He chose to escalate the situation and starting calling me ""demanding"" and ""a difficult customer"". When I told him that that could not be any further from the truth, he replied that I always want my work done quickly and I am always so picky. Isn't that what he is getting paid for? If one can't communicate and articulate their needs, how else can the merchant meet those needs? He continued yelling at me and told me to leave and never come back. He also said ""There are other shoe repairs in the neighborhood. You can go somewhere else."" He is right. I will go somewhere else and I would encourage others to do the same. I have also used Arte's on 8th Ave. and 22nd St. The quality of their work is just as good and they are far more customer service oriented. Let the delusional Edward Andrade think of himself as ""shoe repair to the stars"" until he has chased the last customer from his business. As a nurse, I know about stress. If he can't handle the ""pressure of work"", then maybe he shouldn't be in business. Oh, PLEASE. It's not saving lives, it's only shoe repair. Cons: The internet hype is not the reality more

Cesar's rescued my shoes. 1/2/2010

I've had some terrible experiences with shoe repair in NYC -- shoddy work, bad attitudes and once even got a heel repaired that was THE WRONG COLOR. The owner of that shop told me no one would notice (!!!). End result, I just stopped bothering with getting shoes repaired. Enter Cesar's - I took two of my favorite boots to them and a pair of busted heels-- all with broken zippers and scuffed to the point of despair. The gentleman who works there (Cesar?) was super knowledgeable and recommended I had additional work done on the heels (I feared being upsold). Turns out he made my shoes AMAZING. He handed me back shiny, perfect boots and heels that all looked like the day I bought them. The new zippers were indistinguishable from the original. The cost was $124 for two new zippers, heel repair and a new heel on a pair of pumps -- which saved and restored $900 worth of shoe! This was (on Dec 30!) the most worth it purchase of the year and I will never go anywhere else. Tomorrow, I will be taking two more pairs of shoes to be fixed. I never write reviews, but these folks deserve it. Pros: Great work, pride in craft and service Cons: Good work takes time more

Pleas don't go to Cesar's shoe repair 10/1/2009

days ago, i took my Margiela tabi boot to the Cesar's to fix the broken hill. (had a little accident). The owner Cesar is a little Hispanic guys who has not been nice but I didn't care much until now. I didn't leave the boot with him since $65 was kinda price for one hill. But 2 days later I went back to him decided to pay $65 for my precious tabi. He priced $85 this time for the same exact shoe!! He said ""I'm too busy to fix the shoe at the cheap price . 2 days ago I wasn't that busy so the cheaper price was okay but not any more"". So I asked if i wait and come back in his slow time, he could fix it at $65. He said ""NO"" in really determined , arrogant attitude. He also said "" If you don't like the price, you can go which is totally fine with me"". What kind of shoe repair man is this??? I was furious & speechless.! Instead, I went to Arty's on 8th Ave and got my Tabi fixed at $25. I'm boycotting Cesar's shoe repair big time!!! I have never posted any bad review on anything before, but I think this is a right thing to do. Cesar's is shoe repair place of a mean-sprited , not trustful shoe guy with a rip-off price!!! Cons: dishonesty+ attitude more

Good work with honest prices 4/16/2009

I had my favorite pair of Timberlands about 5 years old, they needed some sole work due to everyday use. I thought that it was finally over for these perfect fitting tim's. I was about to retire them when a good friend told me about Cesar's. So I called and told a very friendly man my problem. He told me to take the boots over and he would see what he could do. When I arrived at the store a polite well mannered man took a good bit of time from his busy day and told me my options. This was such a nice thing he did for me. almost all the time when you enter a store you get the cold shoulder or rush rush pattern that I was expecting from Ceasar's. But to my surprise I was treated like a person in fact it felt like I was a regular top account. This is not the half. The man then takes my boots well dressed and all then goes and fixes them on the spot. comes back charges me hardly nothing and tells me to condition my boots with a free bottle of conditioner. He made my day. thanks Cesar Pros: The man who talks on the phone fixes your stuff!!! Cons: None that I could tell more

Beware! Rude Customer Service, Overcharging! 3/26/2009

I've had two awful experiences at Cesar's and won't be back. I have a hard time believing all the good reviews, but it looks like Cesar's understands the importance of Citysearch and internet marketing (just look at their Citysearch page and website.) I don't know if they're manipulating reviews, but after two truly terrible interactions with them, I can't believe all the glowing comments. My first bad experience came several months ago. I took in a pair of boots for new lifts and leather sole repair, and while the price ($40) seemed like a lot, I thought I'd try try Cesar's out. I went to pick my boots up right at closing one night (lights were on, door was open, they were helping a customer) and I was kicked out of the shop and told they couldn't help me because they were closed. I'd already paid, my boots were done and sitting right behind the counter! Then yesterday, I took in a pair of shoes to get a price quote and again got a ridiculously high number ($30 just to replace heel lifts). Also, as I walked in the door, the man behind the counter was refusing to help a (well-dressed, courteous) woman who was asking him questions about a heel repair. He shooed her away and didn't seem to know anything about the repair she was asking for. She looked at me incredulously and said ""I think we're having a communication issue!"" I took my business elsewhere and had the work done for $10 less, with no hassle. Every interaction I've had with Cesar's has left me feeling uncomfortable and angry, like they don't want me (or anyone else) as a customer. Maybe they're coasting on their undeservedly high internet reputation, but I can't believe they still have customers! Cons: Unpleasant, unhelpful staff, too expensive more

Impeccable work! 2/13/2009

I brought in a pair of gucci boots, YSL platforms and Casadei pumps all in need of love. they renewed them back to a near new condition in no time! Redid a zipper, fixed mixing leather, nothing was beyond their reach. I have found a place to bring ALL my shoes in Manhattan. more

quality repair work, done to perfection 1/31/2009

My LOUIE wallet was eaten up by my Jack Russell!!! OH MY GOD WHAT AM I GONNA DO! I thought I was out near $400.00 . I was not optimistic that it could be repaired, but I took it to Ceasar's anyway. I figured I had nothing to lose considering the condition of my wallet. OH THANKYOU CEASAR you saved me my wallet. The work you did was so good that when i picked up the wallet it was impossible to tell that it was ever damaged. At first I thought there was a mistake and the clerk I think his name was Don Edward gave me a new wallet, but it was mine. This store has the most quality craftsman ship in all N.Y.C. in fact they should start there own line of leather hand crafted goods. Thanks again Ceasar. Pros: the best leather work in nyc more

Great service on a difficult job 1/20/2009

I got a bad scratch on an expensive pair of Gucci loafers and these guys took care of it - almost like new, and they did it the next day. Thanks Cesars! Pros: Handle difficult jobs Cons: They do warn you that there is no guaranteed outcome, but in my case, no problems more

Ruined my boots 1/5/2009

I brought my virtually new grey leather Frye boots to Cesar's having seen them so highly ranked on City Search. I had a spot on the toe that I was hoping they could get out. I was told they would clean them and also waterproof them for $25, cash up front only. Fine, so I drop them off only to pick them back up a few days later and find that not only was the stain still visible, but they had cleaned them to the point that they took off the finish on the leather! Now the boots look all uneven and the leather is far less supple than when I had droppd them off. When I went to retrieve them I saw the sign ""NO CASH REFUNDS""...essentially I paid them to ruin my $400 boots. I will never use them again. Pros: Quick turn around time Cons: Not willing to make it right or provide refund more

They repaired my gucci shoes just like the gucci store 11/4/2008

I usually repair my Gucci shoes at the ""Gucci store"" on fifth avenue;but they allways take too long returning the shoes back to me. So I tried Cesar's shoe repair. I was happily impressed with the results and the price was still cheaper than the ""Gucci store"". Pros: clean work Cons: closed sundays more

I would never go back. 10/31/2008

I had a terrible experience with Cesar's son, the current manager of the store. After promising that my shoes were going to be ready on a certain day, they were over a week late. Don't let his ""Yes, ma'am, Okay ma'am"" style fool you. He was extraordinarily rude and unapologetic when he was clearly in the wrong. I would never do business there again. They are also very expensive. more

Great Workmanship 9/15/2008

Great work. They repaired the straps on my handbag so that they looked better than when the purse was new. Also repaired a tear and polished the whole thing. I will definitely go back. more

Wow! My shoes are perfect! 8/6/2008

I can't believe how perfect my shoes came out. I took my shoes there to get dyed. I was a bit skeptical at first but they were the closest out of a couple shoe repair stores that Kleinfeld recommended. After buying the perfect dress from Kleinfeld, I needed my shoes to match the color of my dress, that was an off white creammish color. After two days of waiting nervously to see how they came out, I was happy and thoroughly impressed by how they guys there were able to match the color so perfectly. I'll admit that I was a little scared because I needed the shoes for my wedding this weekend and didn't think he would have enough time to get it right, since I have to fly out to Hong Kong tomorrow night. I would have willingly waited till tomorrow to get my shoes back but am so happy I got them back today, and they're perfect! That's one less thing to worry about. Thank you Cesar's :) Pros: Very impressive work. Will definitely come back to get other work done. Cons: It can get a little crowded at times. more

This place is horrible 7/18/2008

Not quite sure where all of the other positive reviews came from. But the service and the quality of work here was just miserable. Cons: Quality, Service more

Louis Vuitton bag like new 6/20/2008

These guys really know what they're doing. I had a LV bag with both a scratch and a small hole. They were able to match the leather perfectly and completely remove the scratch mark, so the whole thing looks almost like new again. They also reinforced the seams so it should last for a lot longer now. Thanks guys! more

excellent work 1/9/2008

I have just found my neighborhood shoe repair. I brought in 3 pairs of designer boots that I had ruined and they made the boots look brand new. Unbelievable craftsmanship and service. Highly recommended. more

Best leather repair in Manhattan 1/3/2008

These guys handle really difficult things like leather rips and broken zippers on fancy leather bags. They take the time to advise you n the best thing to do and the price is reasonable. more

Great on difficult jobs 8/23/2007

They took an old but cherished (and originally very expensive) Kelly bag and really made it like new - zipper, rip repair, everything. Well done! Pros: specialist work, craftsmen more
