Learn your own rating system 6/14/2013

My son who is 17 and two of his friends, both of whom are 18 went to see an R rated movie. As my son did not have his ID, they would not let him in. I happened to be close by, so they called me. I walked over to the theater and told the manager that I was his mother and that he was 17. She told me that 17 and under had to be accompanied by an adult. When I told her that it was only under 17 and not 17 and under, I was told I was wrong. Then I said that since the two friends he was with were both 18, he was ok. I was then told that I had to accompany him in. He needed to be accompanied by a parent. Has anyone else ever heard this rule? Anyway, they refused to let him in, so he and his friends had to pick another movie to see. I think that this is ridiculous and managers of cinemas should know the rating system, how it works, and not just make up arbitrary rules. more

I have never encountered a problem @ this theater. I have never seen them come in & ask for movie tickets during movie. Always had friendly service & sometimes the popcorn is a little stale Buy overall this is a great theater. more

Sparks Century Theater- WORST Theater EVER! 10/19/2009

Is this a prison or a movie theater?? Perhaps a little of both. This is THE WORST movie theater I have ever been to in my life. If I had the free time to stand outside and boycott its existence, I would. I have visited this establishment about 4 times in the past year, each time hoping it would be better. Well, it only got worse. Problems I have encountered on different visits include: 1 - Near refusal to an R movie because I did not have my ID (I am 32 years old). 2 - getting in late because the clerk held up the entire line arguing with a 17 year old about admittance into a movie (I finally bought his ticket for him) 3 - Being harassed to show my ticket for the 3rd dam time at the entrance to the movie, after I left to use the restroom. Almost being kicked out for not having said ticket until I finally told the attendant to follow me up the stairs where my boyfriend had both tickets. 4 - Receiving EXTREMELY rude service in general, and stale nasty food...these workers act like the theater is some sort of state prison. These are my personal experiences, I will not get into detail about problems others have encountered there, or I could write a book. Recently I heard that the pesky "ticket checkers" now go into theaters while the movie is playing and ask people for tickets during the movie! Also, they have stated that customers can no longer bring their own food as of Oct 31st. This is a ridiculous way to run a theater. None of the theaters in Reno are like this - I would give all the Reno theaters an A+++ compared to this heinous Sparks theater. I would rather drive all the way across town into Reno to see a movie in a pleasant atmosphere than deal with this nightmare! more

Wonderful Theater 8/13/2005

This theater is clean, well staffed. I enjoy spending an afternoon watching a movie and enjoying myself in this very nice theater. The feeling that one gets when they arrive to see a movie is one of friendliness. The snacks too are, of course, very tempting it is hard to resist the smell of hot buttered popcorn upon entering the theatre. more
