Performances, a Museum and Classes 4/17/2006

The Center for Puppetry Arts consists of performances, a museum and classes. We recently saw The Little Rabbit and Other South American Tales by Akbar Imhotep of Atlanta and took a self-guided tour of the museum. The performance was delightful and we equally enjoyed the museum tour. With advance notice, you can request a guided tour and behind-the-scenes tours (which look very interesting) are also given. I look forwarding to taking one of the classes (for children, teens and adults), which look like they would be quite fun and educational. The Center also has an impressive, extensive library for filled with books on puppetry topics. more

A great performance 9/17/2005

We won free tickets for a performance and I really did not know what to expect. I was amazed with the puppets, humor and the show. It was great and everyone enjoyed it - myself and my husband and my 3.5 year old and 1.5 year old. After the show we attended the create your own puppet workshop which was a great way to end the show and bring home our very own puppet souvenir. Highly recommend even if you do not have kids. They also have adult only shows. more

Wonderful Experience 8/20/2005

The Center for Puppetry Arts are a vibrant, 25-year-old organization dedicated to the art form of puppetry. One intrusting fact I learned was that Kermit the Frog and Jim Henson cut the ribbon to open the Center on September 1978. I went with my son on a school field trip to see a puppet show about the weather. It was absolutely wonderful. They used every type of puppet imaginable! The songs, the real actors and visuals were out of this world. It kept everyone's interest the entire time. I highly recommend you go to see them. more

A "must-see" attraction 8/18/2005

The Center for Puppetry Arts is a magical experience for adults and children alike. The productions are astounding. One of the things I like most about the center is that the performers often take time after the show to explain the behind-the-scenes aspects of the show. The puppet museum housed in the same building is fascinating. The center also offers puppet workshops where kids can build their own puppets. more

Fun for the whole family! 8/7/2005

I listed this museum as a kid’s museum but it is entertaining for the whole family. I saw a show about puppets from all over the world and really loved it. They offer workshops for children to make their own puppets as well. I hear they have an excellent adult puppet show around Halloween time as well. more

Incredible performances 8/6/2005

Through the years this company has continued to strive to be an icon in the Atlanta Performing Arts community. We have season passes and the kids look forward to their shows and so do we. We have also gone to a few adult shows and they are fun and raunchy. They always manage to have a very varied array of shows to appeal to all the differing tastes. more
