Castle Avalon Bed & Breakfast

I had my Wedding in November and everything was wonderful. The wedding coordinator was a huge help in making sure that everyone was in their place and started on time.She answered all of my questions and made the whole day so much easier. I’m sorry to hear that one woman did not have a perfect day ,but I can assure you the service we received was great. I would recommend this place to anyone. The castle is beautiful and all of my guests had a wonderful time and they loved the garden and grand ballroom. Thank you Castle Avalon for all of your help and making my wedding such a success! more

I had my wedding at Castle Avalon in June, and have to say that the day itself turned out beautifully. I spent most of my time up to the event worried, stressed, and just plain upset. If I had to do it all over again I wouldn't have had my wedding at Castle Avalon. The stress that was caused by the staffs unwillingness to help does not out way how beautiful the locating and wedding turned out. The first day I went to see the castle I fell in love, it was exactly what I was looking for, beautiful, and the lady I met Susan made me feel comfortable. She said she would be as involved or uninvolved as I needed her to be. What I didn't realize that by saying this she meant she wouldn't be involved. I could hardly ever get ahold of her, I asked her for a price list for their drink services and she was unable to supply one. I was in email contact with her, but she wouldn't answer my questions. I ended up having to hire a wedding planner for the sole purpose of communicating with Castle Avalon. They quoted my wedding planner a different price for drinks then they quoted me. They are way over priced for the services they provide. The day of the event everything ran smoothly, but if I wouldn't have hired a wedding planner I know that wouldn't have been the case. We had children who attended my wedding and went outside into the courtyard where my husband and I were married. The owner told the children that the courtyard was rented for an hour and that hour had long sense past. After that, I had guests at my wedding who smoke and they couldn't get out any of the doors to do so because the owner locked all of my guests in (fire code violation anyone). I am honestly very glad that these are the only things that happened to my knowledge. I was terrified for over 4 months that the owner and Susan were going to do something to ruin my wedding. Although for the most part the wedding turned out beautifully I would say that only happened because of the wedding planner I used and the venders I found. The Castle is no help!!! The location is beautiful, but the service is horrible, and the stress level because of this is not worth the outcome. This should be a restful retreat. Unfortunately, we visited when they hosted a wedding. Wedding-goers took over the place, basically, including a library we had been told was for overnight guests only. Clean-up went on for an hour past the stated 10 p.m. ending time. Guests shouted up and down stairs and skirted ropes meant to protect guest rooms as staff rattled carts over hard floors. We would have had to intrude on the party to find the innkeeper, who was managing it, so we chose to stay put and try to buffer the sound, thinking it would be over soon. Next day, we complained, but got excuses and indifference. The owner was not present. The wedding denied us viewing other rooms as we do in most B&Bs. This inn has no TV, phones or Internet access -- good for those seeking rest. But we won't be back. Pros: Scenic beauty, Creative rooms, Location Cons: Large groups, Small tub, Poor cust. relations more
