Rude host 8/29/2011

This place is not kid friendly!!! We are a gay couple with a 7 year old and have always taken her to the Ivy,Polo Lounge Etc. Sunday we went to Casita Del Campo(as we have many times) and was taken past empty tables to an empty room. When asked why,we were told it was their policy not to seat children in the main room and the old and bitter host tossed the menu on the table and walked away.WHAT??? It's a loud room in an ok place. We will never go back and be treated like that again.El Coyote is looking better again. more

better choices out there 12/11/2009

I'm ashamed to say I've been going to this landlocked roach coach on and off for 20-plus years, primarily because I'm lazy and it's very close to where I live. I've managed to mostly overlook the overpriced taco-stand quality food until now because the place is so spacious and convenient and the margaritas are actually pretty good. But the bar area is now a haven for newborns and toddlers. Save your money, load your flask with tequila and have a better (and much more satisfying) Mexican dining experience at the Burrito King down the avenue. Pros: location Cons: poor service more

Best Mexican food in LA!! 3/18/2009

The food is fresh, fresh, fresh!! Very tender rice and moist beans. The chips and salsa are to die for!! And not too expensive. The drinks are mediocre, but the food is definitely worth it. Pros: Fresh chips & salsa Cons: Drinks aren't the best more

BEST MEXICAN RESTAURANT IN LOS ANGELES, HANDS DOWN...!!! 4/24/2008

THIS RESTAURANT HAS THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD IN THE LOS ANGELES AREA, IN MY OPINION...THE PORTIONS ARE HUGE AND THE BAR AND THE ATMOSPHERE IS AMAZING...MAKE THIS ONE OF THE PLACES YOU GO BEFORE YOU DIE:) Pros: HUGE PORTIONS, GREAT DRINKS, OUTDOOR EATING, NICE AND QUICK STAFF Cons: A LITTLE NOISY ON FRI AND SAT NIGHTS more

BEST TACOS AND SERVICE 4/15/2008

I have been to Casita Del Campo about 15 times, and yes everytime I go I always leave happy. I know one server there, he's the older mexican gentlemen and he is a great server who is always friendly and attentive. I would suggest trying to the chicken tacos plate. The chips and salsa are absolutely amazing, and the chips of course are freshly baked.\r \r If you are looking for an authentic mexican restaurant with a to die for environment, well this is the place.\r \r It's adorable inside and as charming and authentic as mexican can get in SILVERLAKE mind you!\r \r Cute people too. Pros: Ambience,Service,Food Cons: Busy on weekends more

Worst Bar service, food is nothing to write home about. 12/16/2007

I wish I could give this place zero stars. The bar service was horrible. I literally waited for an hour to get an overpriced mediocre margarita. Granted it was busy but still there were four bartenders who obviously had no clue what was going on. The food is okay, just overpriced. The salad is just a bed of lettuce with some generic dressing smothered all over it. I ordered the carnitas which were good, just a little too salty. For the price, its just not worth it when there are so many places in L.a that do it better. Pros: good chips and salsa, good table service Cons: Slow bar, food is mediocre, overpriced more

Lovely and delicious 8/17/2007

I was a bit hesitant about trying this restaurant after reading the mixed reviews, but I went with a few friends for my birthday and had a wonderful dinner. We requested a table outside and sat on the very lovely patio. The decor inside and out was beautiful, and had a very relaxed feel. Our server was marvelous and the entire wait staff was extremely attentive throughout our meal. The food was very fresh and delish. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for either an intimate date or a raucous dinner with friends. Every mood can be accommodated and fed here. more

Great food, good service 6/28/2007

This is one of my favorite places. The food is always good and the service is friendly. There is also a bar if you just want to drink. It's a very social atmosphere. more

Try the specials! 5/4/2007

The place is fun! I have never had bad service there. I like the 50-50 gay straight vibe. It's not pretentious. Try the specials! Not my favorite marg in town, but decent. I like the area, the atmosphere and the food and drinks are good. They have shows but I have never been. more

A Favorite for Years and Years 1/5/2006

I first found this place back in the early 60's when it was a little cottage of a place. It's grow and grown over the years, and while the food isn't as good as it used to be, it's still very good. I went there on my first date with my partner (of over 40-years now) and fell in love with him over dinner - so a special spot for us. Pros: atmosphere, food, service more

I loved it 5/12/2005

My boyfriend and I just checked this place out for the first time last night. We had a great experience. We were seated immediately, the service was effecient without feeling rushed, the food was excellent and we left feeling very good about our new find. The atmosphere is great!! it has an inside/outside feel with a great patio and bar area. Great gay - non West Hollywood vibe. I look forward to going back. Pros: atmosphere, food, gay vibe Cons: parking more

You call that food? 5/22/2004

the food at this place is awful, too salty, they americanised everything except for the chips, the salsa could use some seasoning like SALT once in a while. as far as the service sucks. I live very close to this place and I go out of my way when it comes to mexican food this place rates right up there with taco bell. if you want good food and with mexican flavor try Tacos Delta, on Sunset and Lucile. Pros: close to my house, spacious, good chips Cons: , too salty & old meat, no refunds more

Not all that... thats for sure! 3/31/2003

So I've been there twice with my girlfriend, that first time we thought it might be a fluke, the second time was the clincher, this place blows! The service was dreadfull... we waited and waited and waited- for food, for drink (the waiter twice thought he brought my drink but didnt) they had a laker game on so our eardrums were being punctured by screaming fans so cozy its not. The pork dish was dry as anything i have every eaten, my girlfriends chicken was cold and bland. when i was finished my sour cream arrived- im glad it didnt while i was eating because it looked rather spoiled. the chips and salsa were excellent though- some of the best around. Pros: salsa Cons: service, food more

I love this place... 2/23/2003

I've been eating at Casita for years...I love their food...try the Pollo Mexica if you like chicken. Also, I think they make one of the best, if not THE BEST, margaritas in town...it's the real thing, not some mix... Also, the atmosphere is cozy...they have booths to sit in or a quaint outdoor patio. I personally think this is a gem in the heart of Silverlake in Los Angeles! Pros: Good friendly service, Comfortable & Cozy, Parking Lot more

Good food and a friendly atmosphere? 6/14/2002

It's not very often you find a place where the staff and the food complement each other. Casita Del Campo is great authentic mexican food with an endeless supply of chips and salsa. The staff is friendly and you're sure to have a laugh or two. Check it out on Thursday nights, dinner, maragaritas and have a tarot card reading! more
