Very Romantic & Full of History 2/10/2012

We went to one of our very favorite places last night, The Cascade Lodge. Chef John was there and provided another wonderful evening. It was a crisp, cold night but you still have to stroll down the road a little to get an eyefull of the beautiful grounds and the trout pool! When you go in, there's an beautiful, old forturne teller mannequin on your right as soon as you open the door and then you just start taking in all of the history on the way up to your table. They have a powerful wood burning stove at one end and an open fire place in the center. Very cozy with large windows all around. The grounds are just stunning! As soon as we sit down, Chef John comes over with some delicious, warm rolls and butter and our favorite wine! What a wonderful welcome! We always start with the house salad. Chef John uses crisp romaine lettuce with a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. I always get the House dressing which I love. I have a hard time choosing between the crab cakes (full of mostly crab) or the table side prepared Steak Diane. They have real mashed potatoes with sauteed vegetables that are full of flavor and not boiled or microwaved to death! My guy loves the crab stuffed trout. He said he's amazed how large the trout is. He's used to eating the ones he catches which are not as large. What a relaxing, leisurely dinner and if he has time, we love to chat with Chef John, he's a very interesting and amusing guy. Also, the best coffee ever! I would highly reccommend The Cascade Lodge anytime, any season and for any occasion. Pros: null Cons: null more

Are these reviews real? Such a shame! 1/29/2012

We were really looking forward to dinner at the Cascade lodge, the drive and view were beautiful! When we walked in the door I was a little surprised to still see Christmas decorations about and there was a bit of a musty smell but, the smell of a fresh wood fire from up stairs beckoned us to continue. To my surprise it was decorated quite nicely and very cozy. We were greeted by a gentleman dressed in a chef coat and he seated us by the window. Pros: null Cons: null more

A Diamond in Upper Bucks 1/12/2010

Chef John Wolf waited on our table. The variety and quality of the foods offered "blew us away". We started with a tableside prepared salad (A+), followed by steak Diane tableside and Cremebrolie for desert. We had a relaxing 2 hour meal in wonderful countryside surroundings. We will be going back as soon as possible!! Pros: Excellent Food, preparation and variety Cons: Establishment is original, which is nice in a way. more
