A nice place for your horse 3/31/2008

While the pastures are overgrazed and the water troughs are sometimes low and not scrubbed out, the care and concern for the animal is what Marie and Don care about. I've had my horse there for 3 years and the Cartee's have been very accommodating. They will blanket on request which is nice if you can't make it to the barn. They do go through a lot of help but what barn doesn't? If I feel my horses stall needs to be cleaned better or needs extra bedding I will do it myself. I would do that at any barn I boarded at.I do believe pasture rotation and extra hay would be nice. But, my horse is well fed and cared for and that's what is most important. I've been at a lot of barns and Cartee's is just fine. Marie and Don are great. more

Excellent horse care & hunter-jumper training 7/23/2006

I left a similar review under Cartee Equestrian Center, the official name of the farm. I presently board 2 horses at Cartee and find the care to be excellent. Both of our animals are healthy and well cared for. With respect to the lesson program, I think your dollar gets you far more at Cartee than some other farms. Group lessons are an hour long, but often will go longer to offer more individualized instruction to each lesson participant. Don Cartee is very passionate about wanting everyone in his lesson program to learn, succeed, but most of all, have fun. If your child seeks to participate in shows, the farm routinely attends several out of area horse shows per year and sponsors shows at the farm annually. Horses receive excellent care. Turn out paddocks and pastures for pasture-board animals are rotated regularly to be sure that animals have access to plenty of grass to forage, and in times of excessive drought, their diet is supplemented with rolled hay. If you are looking for a place to board your horse or have your child receive top caliber training, look no further! more

Dear unhappy spy! 7/23/2006

Let me say one thing about unhappy people - When you are unhappy with your ownself and your life, then you want everyone else unhappy and miserable around you........! We have been at Cartee for a year now and we "ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT There!" I am spoiled and my kids are spoiled and we would not think about going anywhere else with our horses. Everybody there treats each other as family and they treat each others horse as it would be their own. Nobody with a heart says or complains about anyone or anything that goes on there. All of the horses there are well cared for. There are horses that are brought to the farm that are considered "Rescue Horses" that are then well cared for, fed, Watered and loved. Individuals that are trained at the farm are all Winners when they attend shows. I'll say someting about lessons - People come from other training facilites that are not happy wher they have been, and they stay at Cartee. Cartee is a winning facility with all of the expertise that they share with others. There are no whiners or complainers there and I don't appreciate the people out there in the world that are sick in their own life that want to make others miserable! Thanks and I am off my soap box - See ya later! more

Don't recommend for horse boarding.......... 6/11/2006

can't make a statement on lessons, I have no personal experience on that. Lots of thin horses, sporadic winter hay, overgrazed pastures, with no supplementation by the farm in spring, summer and fall. Hard to keep water troughs filled, they are often low or empty. more
