RUN FROM THIS PLACE! - FAST! - It's NOT worth your time! 2/17/2010

BEWARE of the sales people at Carr’s! This dealership was shady and the salesperson was completely rude. I have never been treated so rudely as a customer. If you want to be YELLED AT and BERATED in the middle of the showroom floor than this is the dealership for you. The salesperson asked me if I was going to turn in my lease and buy the car that day, which I was not prepared to do. He would not give me a price on the car. He told me once I was serious about buying the car then he could tell me the price. (Attention Customers – This should be a RED FLAG. If they do not want to tell you the price, they never will. Don’t waste your time with that dealership. Move on right away.) Long story short, I went in three times to get the price of the car. I could never get a straight answer and they keep pushing the 4 wheel drive which they had on their lot rather than the 2 wheel drive which was the one I kept telling them I wanted. If you are serious about purchasing a car, DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT waste your time here. As another review wrote, "Sales are tough" I'm not denying that sales are tough, but customers want to be treated with respect. There is NO EXCUSE: long hours, commission only or whatever else is difficult about sales, for a sales person to EVER treat a customer the way I was treated. more

STAY AWAY 6/26/2009

This place is horrible. The worst. Stay away. Seriously. It completely deserves a one star rating. 1. They LOST MY CAR for about an hour there. They had NO idea where it was. They ran around like chickens with their heads cut off the whole time, right in front of me, as I looked on, livid. I went in for a routine headlight replacement--in my model it can only be done at the dealership--and what should have taken about 20 minutes quickly turned to 2 hours. At the 2 hour mark I lost my patience and began to ask what was up. Well, it turns out they LOST MY CAR and thus forgot about me. It took them over an hour to track down. It had been "misplaced." What did I get? A rather half-hearted apology and a free oil change card. Gee, thanks. 3. I was driving on a highway recently when my car's engine basically failed. I got it off the road immediately and had it towed to a local mechanic. It turns out that a whole set of equipment, under the hood and toward the front, was out of wack. Like, screws loose, things in the wrong place. My engine coolant container got dislodged, leaked, and that was why my car flipped out on me. Who had worked on this? asked the mechanic. Only the dealer, said I. Well, they screwed up, he said. I called Carr's Honda to explain to them what happened. Only THEY had worked under my hood since I've owned the car. (It's a hybrid and I dunno what the heck is going on under there, so I stay away.) And, uh, there are ALL KINDS OF SCREWS LOOSE AND THINGS FALLING APART. The guy I'm talking to starts giving me all of this defensive corporate circumlocution -- about how it wasn't their fault and maybe I'd been in an accident (nope, and only they've looked at my car), and it's just really hard to tell, and so on. I get the mechanic on the phone and he explains the situation. The guy at Carr's Honda STILL won't bend an inch. I had a mechanic as a witness! Still nothing. They were completely unhelpful, and they did not seem fazed by the idea that one of their customer was driving a death-trap. more

Masters of the bait and switch!! 1/18/2009

I have contacted them via email for a quote on a car. The "Internet Manager" called before sending the quote to confirm the vehicle and explicitly said that he wanted to get the quote correct as they were about 30-40 miles from my home. The quote they gave was competitive with a few other offers I had received but they had a color I preferred. I exchanged a few emails and also phone calls to reach a deal for first thing the next morning. I checked a few things on the deal and called the next morning for clarification. They deal was on and they were prepping the car for us. On the way in we received a call from the "Sales Manager" saying there was a mistake and the quote was given for the "wrong car" though I was assured the previous day the quote was correct. We decided to finish the trip in and see the "revised" price. The new price was $1,300 more on the bas price and with fees and extra charges was almost $1,800 over the agreed upon deal. The "Sales Manager" told us that if we could get it for the price I had negotiated with them (which a couple other dealers had also quoted) I should buy it. I told him that I thought I was... I strongly advise to not waste your time negotiating with Carrs Honda as they do not honor their deals. more

Horrible service! It was a very humiliating experience. I had to walk away from the deal because I could not stand their lying and yelling at me. more

Run for your life ... and your wallet. 12/2/2006

Run for your life and your wallet. I had a chirping noise coming from my engine. It took them forever to diagnose the problem but finally concluded that my timing belt was about to go. I felt this was a bit premature for the miles but not necessarily the age of my car. So not wanting to tempt the fate of a timing belt, I let them replace it to the tune of $855!!!! They quoted the job at $725 prior to work. That's another story. Of course, I drive away as they are closing shop for the night. I'm not two blocks away and the noise still exists. I take it back the next day and am met with all kinds of excuses. They ended up properly diagnosing the problem -- something with my a/c. They did that $350 job for free and a long list of apologies. But to get slapped with an $850 repair which was unnecessary had me seeing red. I understand I needed to replace my timing belt some time in the near future but not when I'm told I'm playing with fire if I drive off the lot without replacing it. That's an expense most of us need to budget. I could have done without that for another year or so. Since then, I have made it my mission to find a suitable repair shop. I found Haas Inc through a Google search. I have nothing to say but nice things about the guys. Their prices are reasonable and the men are not condescending. The other day, Haas charged me $3 for a bulb and no labor to gain access to the lamp. I was having other work done while I was there. But I'm sure had I been at Carr's they would have pinched another $50 out of me. Go to Haas Inc. They're on Montrose near Elston. more

Good service if you're a girl 3/14/2006

I purchased a used Civic in Iowa and they didn't have the code to unlock the radio, so I went to Carr's Honda to get that taken care of. I wanted to take it in last minute and they squeezed me in, and ended up not only performing the service for free, but taking my car to get a wash (which I certainly don't do for it myself, lol) and bringing it back looking brand new. Never mind the fact that the guy wanted to get my number at the end of all (he didn't) - but they probably give good service regardless to anyone, not just young girls...hopefully. Anyway, I sure appreciated it and would recommend this particular Honda dealer to anyone needing to get their car taken care of. more

Good service 8/5/2005

My friend bought a Honda Civic in 2001 from Carr's. I must say that with any car dealership, your experience is probably highly dependent on the individual salesmen you interact with. I went with her to this dealership twice; the first time, we had an extremely indifferent (not rude, just indifferent) salesman who just couldn't be bothered, I guess, but the second time we met quite the personable chap who managed to be earnest without being pushy. So needless to say, my friend bought the car. She's been pretty happy with their service and the price she paid. About the only reason why I would not, in fact, give them a higher rating than just 'good' is that one of their major selling points is that they claim to be #1 in customer satisfaction for Honda dealers in the Chicago region. But, you see, for EVERY customer there, they give them the following spiel "I'll give you a really good price. But could you do something really easy for me in return? Could you fill out this form, and say that we gave you really good service? That's all we want in return?" So - just how reliable do you think those #1 customer satisfaction ratings are? more
