CarMax

Had a car shipped in; car was not what we wanted - it smelled like wet-dog; and did not ride very well. We found another car on the Memphis lot; drove it and liked it very much. While we were filling out the paperwork, a Manager type came over and we were told that we could not put down a substantial down payment ($10,000) and finance the balance. We were given several stories as to why, however, both my wife and I feel as if we were being lied to. These people do not care that you have just spent all day driving there; just lost my $99.00 transfer fee (which I knew was a possibility); or how much time you just wasted trying to buy a car that we really liked. My wife pretty much stated that the Salesperson and the Finance guy were saving this vehicle for one of their friends. Just beware that CarMax does not care. more

CarMax has a very nice selection. However, the experience I had was so frustrating. The car I wanted was in Louisville, KY, so I paid to have it shipped to Memphis. I waited over 2 weeks and still no car. Come to find out, they sold it in Louisville and never bothered to tell me. It took over a month to get my money refunded. Then, they were unable to find another car of the same model for the same price. They were quick to offer me a car that was $2000 more expensive. No thanks! Beware of CarMax, especially if you are having a car transferred from another location! more
