Capitol Grille Dinner 5/9/2005

I had dinner in the Capitol Grille 3 weeks ago with my wife. I was visiting from California and always wanted to see Nashville. This was my 1st visit to Nashville and I wanted to dine at the nicest place in the city. I asked the concierge at the Hermitage and she said you must eat with us in the Capitol Grille the chef is fantastic! We stay at many luxury hotels and it is important the the restaurant matches the hotel. The service, food and abiance was exactly what we were looking for. I rate it with the top hotels and cuisines in the country. The Peninsula, Mandarin Orientals and even the Ritz and Four Seasons Hotels. I have already inform all my collegues and friends what a remarkable place to stay and eat. It rates a 10 for the fantastic experiance we had their. We will be back! Pros: Value, Exceeds Expectations, Pure Luxury more

Best Birthday Ever 12/28/2004

I took my boyfriend to the Capitol Grille for his 25th birthday and we had an absolutely wonderful time. The service was as spectacular as the food, and the atmosphere was beautiful. I don't think I could have picked a better place for us to celebrate in Nashville, and I would highly recommend this to everyone who is looking for the finest dining in Tennessee! P.S.- if you are planning to watch a show at TPAC, this is the perfect place to eat before you go! Pros: food, service, atmosphere more

One of the best restaurants in Nashville 1/29/2004

After sampling a variety of Chef Brock's offerings, I can say that Capital Grille is one of the best restaurants in Nashville. The service in impeccable, the ambience inviting, and the food fantastic. Chef is using the finest ingredients available, and changing the menu frequently, so there will always be something new and exciting to try. I am in love with the foraged mushroom tart and the white truffle mac and cheese, but everything is fabulous! I can't say enough good things about my experience at the Capital Grille, and plan on returning many times. Pros: excellent food, superb service, valet parking more

Lobbyist Hangout 1/12/2004

Having been involved in the original renovation of the Hermitage Hotel in the early '80s, I have watched this Grand Dame hotel struggle through countless owners, staff, etc. Unfortunately, the food is still mediocre with overwrought sauces and wilted, lackluster salads (given the current owners also manage the restaurants at Kiawah Island I don't have much hope for an improvement). The wine list is extremely expensive (this from a collector not a novice). Lunch is great, but I would leave dinner to the monied lobbyists - about the only people that can afford an average dinner at a Wild Boar price. Pros: beautiful restaurant, accommodating staff, unique men's restroom Cons: slow service, expensive wine list, heavy sauces more

Amazing Dinner Experience 7/17/2003

If you haven't had dinner at the Capitol Grille you are missing out on the best that Nashville has to offer. I strongly suggest trying the Chef's tasting menu. I saw him on the news and he is only 25! A friend suggested the tasting menu and I figured I would give it a try? The first course was a complimentary course called an ""amuse bouche"" of potato foam with a fingerling potato chip and Tennessee caviar, I didn't even know Tenn. had caviar but it was outstanding! Some other courses were diver scallop with citrus vapor. The server presented the dish and poured hot water over citrus zest at the table, and the aroma of fresh citrus was amazing with the orange sauce that accompanied it.We also had confit of pork belly with a fried quail egg and black-eyed pea vinaigrette..what an exciting dinner...the service was flawless. 5 star!!! Pros: attentive staff, wine list, free valet parking Cons: zero more

5 STARS!!!!!! 7/14/2003

I RECENTLY WAS VISITING FAMILY IN NASHVILLE AND HAD THE OPPURTUNITY TO STAY AND ALSO DINE AT THE HERMITAGE HOTEL/CAPITOL GRILLE. MY DINING EXPERIENCE WAS TRULY 5 STAR!!! I FREQUENT FINE DINING ESTABLISHMENTS QUITE OFTEN AND NOTHING HAS BLOWN ME AWAY LIKE THE CAPITOL GRILLE. I HIGHLY SUGGEST THIS RESTAURANT FOR SINGLE DINERS. THEY OFFERED ME SOMETHING TO READ, THE WAITER, KRISTY, WAS ATTENTIVE BUT UNOBTRUSIVE. I HAD AN AFTER DINNER DRINK IN THE BAR AND ANDREA, I BELIEVE, WAS SO ATTENTIVE AND VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THE HISTORY OF THE HOTEL. I CAN'T WAIT TO COME BACK TO NASHVILLE AND BRING OTHERS TO THIS FABULOUS RESTAURANT AND HOTEL. Pros: IMPECCABLE FOOD, FLAWLESS SERVICE, WONDERFUL AMBIANCE more

Best Restaurant!!!!! 7/10/2003

I recently had dinner in the Capitol Grille for my 3rd wedding anniversary and it was the best anniversary by far. The staff made us feel like we were the only couple in the room that evening. They set our table with rosepetals, sent champagne as soon as we sat down, everybody that we encountered knew our name and that it was our anniversary. We had a special add-on with dessert that consisted of chocolate covered strawberries and our names personalized with chocolate. I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to anyone. Also, THe hotel is absolutely gorgeous, the manager, Ashley, I believe was her name gace us a tour of the Presidential Suite, and next anniversary you bet I am staying at the Hermitage Hotel!! Pros: Good Wine List, Attentive Staff, Wonderful Food more

Chicago 4/23/2003

Easter Saturday was my first time at the Capitol Grill. It was terrific! The service, food and ambiance were incredible. I had the most wonderful appetizer, which consisted of three small cups of there homemade soups, most unusual! My waiter Jason recommended the pork chop for my entrée and it was delicious. I would highly recommend or any occasion. The new Chief is just fastastic! more

Wonderful in Every Way! 9/11/2002

This is by far the best restaurant I've been to in Nashville. It is very romantic and the food is wonderful. I highly recommend it. more

Excellent Service and Food 8/5/2002

I have always loved this restaurant. Their surf and turf is different (features veal and crab) and excellent. The service was wonderful, we were worried about a party member who didn't show up, so had to leave early, so our server included a complimentary sampling of all the deserts to go for us. This is also where I got engaged, and thus will alwas hold wonderful memories for me. Pros: Food, Service, Desert menu Cons: Parking in a garage more
