Capello Salon & Day Spa

Capello's is a good salon. Kelly, their lead stylist, is consistently good. It's hit-or-miss with the other stylists and Kelly's assistants. Kelly has a flair with the shears and with color applications. She has style and is good at figuring out what a customer wants and what will look good on a customer. I've also had good manicures at Capello's. Warning: It's expensive. Kelly's worth the $$$$ but I don't think the other stylists are. Also, it's usually quite busy--hence, personal attention is sorely missing. Pros: Kelly, the lead stylist, is superb Cons: I've not had much success with Capello's other stylists more

I am a very busy working nurse and mom. When my family surprised me with a day spa package from Capelo's for my birthday, I was thrilled. I have to say that the facial was exceptional. My hair was cut in ten minutes and not styled. The other employees asked me if I was getting my hair done, AFTER it had been cut : ( I was supposed to get a meal with my day spa package and received a sub !!!! You have GOT to be kidding!!!!!!! Yes this REALLY happened. I was rushed from one station to the next with the exception of the facial. They made me feel like a homeless person that they were "helping out". My poor family was so excited when I returned I didn't have the heart to tell them is was an awful experience. I just smiled and said thank you for such a lovely gift. more

I am from NYC and moved up here to Buffalo recently. I am used to getting my hair professionally colored and highlighted, so I can tell when someone does not know what they are doing. When you enter this salon, it appears as if everyone knows what they are doing (the salon is very nice and organized. However, it is not this way. I went in and asked a lady there to lighten my dark hair to maybe a light brown with lighter highlights on top. She said she will not be able to get it "blonde" (dont know why, b/c i know from experience that although it may take a lot of time, it is possible to get the color you want), but that she will lighten it the way i wanted it to. All i have to say is that when i looked in the mirror i had dark brown hair with streaks of an orangey, brassy color that looked HORRIBLE. On top of the fact they do not know how to COLOR hair correctly, they make you feel like they really want you out of the salon and do a terrible job blowdrying (my hair is curly, therefore it is UNACCEPTABLE to straighten it as if it were naturally straight). -Conclusion: These stylists need to broaden their horizons...Need to learn how to ACHIEVE the colors clients want, AND need to learn that not everyone has the same hair type. There IS a way to straighten curly hair beautifully. I do it all the time. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME. For the longest time I've been wanting to highlight my hair but since my hair is very dark I was a bit scared. I went to capellos cuz i heard it was good. My stylist was very nice and helpful but didn't give me what I wanted. The first time I consulted with him he told me that he would do a t-bar on my head but convinced me not to go too light (even though i told him i wanted caramel highlights). The day of my appointment he did not remember me and decided to put highlights under my natural color instead. I was a bit skeptical but he told me it would look good. Unfortunately I gave in and was very disappointed. I told him to go lighter but he did not listen. As he was drying my hair it looked as though he didnt highlight my hair. I spent soo much money for my hair to look the same. No highlight, no dramatic new do, nothing!!! I wish I didnt take his advice. Pros: nice, friendly, patient Cons: Cheaper then most salons but not worth the money. Would have paid more money to get wut i wanted more

I've gone to Capellos for the past few years. My stylist is Shawn, I must say he's done a great job since the first day I went. He spends time on highlighting, coloring and cutting my hair., making my hair looks it's best everytime! He also is very personable. He makes you feel very comfortable, he asks you what you would like for your new do, and listens and also makes suggestions that will or will not fit your needs. It is a bit pricy but well worth it.! He also has an assistant that works with him as well. She has always been very nice too It's a great salon, and Awesome stylist (Shawn) I would recommend the salon and Shawn to anyone! I definitely disagree with the other review. My birthday gift was to Capello and I experienced a superior staff; from the best pedicure I have ever received (by Melissa) to the wonderful massage. It was an unparalleled experience with a most relaxing environment. I had a wonderful time and cannot wait to go back again. The owner also gave my facial and she was an absolute sweetheart. Everything at Capellos is expensive. Not that Im cheap because I have been to Capellos many times but everytime Im paying $150 a visit and not liking what they do to my hair. It is way over priced for the quality that they give. Cons: expensive, poor quality service, not much parking more

I feel this was an over-priced salon and day spa for the service I received and it's lack of classy or serene ambiance. I never felt relaxed through my 1/2 day spa package. The hour massage was very good but my stylist was too busy discussing her relationship with other stylists; I wanted a professional.
